I've just bought a Samsung DVD 511....And I am wondering if it is multi regional, the guy in the store said it is with a remote control hack. If you can, how do I do it ?. He also said it replaces the Samsung DVD 709 which I know was multi-regoinal. Any help would be great.

I believe it's the same hack as the 709 but you have to redo it after each power down

I'm a bit annoyed at myself for buying it now but at least I can hack it now. Just need to buy a one 4 all remote and a region 1 disc. Any ideas on a good place to be region 1's one the web

I may be wrong, I don't own the Samsung, but I believe that the later 709s used a completely different hack to the one for all hack, and involved using the existing remote.

The later versions of firmware use a modification of the previous hack - still one for all

The 511 does not need another remote, you crack the same as the first 709 by changing the parantal password.
I have done this, I can confirm though the 811 does not have such a hack and needs to be moded.
