What time does Dermot arrive on set to do BBLB? He is CONSTANTLY looking at his clipboard and very rarely even glimpses at the camera!!

There is obviously NO rehersal and no autoprompt....
Somewhat unprofessional I think.

Exactly the reason why BBLB works as a show. Dermot is always trying to keep up with what's going on and hence comes over as a fan rather than a slick presenter. It makes him "one of us", part of the audience rather than part of the show.

I agree, i think he does a gret job on BBLB the way it is now

I'd ask for a raise, he's presented the same number of eviction interviews as Davina

He struggles to put on a good show. Last year's BBLB was brilliant, by comparison this production is a pale imitation

I think he comes across as an immensly likeable individual with a cheeky charm, as well as loads of sex appeal, and as mentioned looked rather nice in his kilt today.

I think BBLB is better than the main BB shows on C4 and Dermot O'Leary far superior to Davina McCall in presenting ability, personally.

I also support the way that BBLB allowed the guy from Heat who was a guest today to be quite critical of the house divide and the fact that the HMs haven't been given enough to do.

Dermot is to interviewing what Anne Widdecombe is to fashion

I agree - and he's made plenty of sly sarcastic comments that indicate he knows this as well. I'm pretty sure both he and Davina realise that this year its not going quite as well as last year, but then last year I think was exceptional with the group they ended up with in the house....they got very lucky to find a Brian, a Bubble, a Dean and Elizabeth all in the same year.

That's the best thing about BBLB - without a script or time to reherse, people say what they really think rather than some "party line". It's a pity BBLB isn't on C4 all the time as well as the main BB programme

Agree. It is a better prog than C4s BB round up, but still not a patch on last years show. Used to get better celebs too - they probably can't get anyone decent who wants to come on and endorse BB3 this year because like most of us there is simply no one to like in the BB house like there has been in the last 2 shows.

The cynic in me says that they're softening up the public for a major U-turn on the divide thing.

I would be very surprised if it lasts for the rest of the series, as originally planned. The housemates are fed up, many are thinking of leaving, and they've had enough of the stupid rich / poor divide, as shown by their actions during the last 24 hours.

Yes, you're right. It's a much more interesting show. In fact if you've been watching BB live(ish!)-then the Ch4 10 pm show is a waste of time usually.
And if my daughter had her way, Dermot would be my son-in-law! - and I wouldn't mind!!!

This is nothing new in the BBWorld - In the Oz version this year, the housemates got p****d off with BB's rules + regulations and so all decided to bet 100% of their shopping budget on a task they they all promised to fail. BB then had to give them their food + drink anyway....

...except that it's facinating to see which bits the producers choose to show, and then to see what the people who only see those edited versions make of events.

For me, the appeal of BB is not seeing housemates perform on screen, and it's not even seeing how they get on or who wins. The great thing is to see how people in the outside judge those on the inside and how those judgements betray their own predudices and world views. It's especially interesting when people form strong opinions (even hate!) some of the housemates based only on the C4 shows. I would have to really get to know someone before I could possibly hate them!

(anyone read Stranger in a Strange land? You grok where I'm comming from?)

Agreed, BBLB is excellent. It is more 'real' than C4 Big Brother and a lot more useful - the analysis is great. Dermot is a superb presenter, he says what he thinks and it very funny. I think the psychologist show on C4 on Sundays is excellent though. The only thing the C4 show is worth watching for is the diary room, which often gives interesting insights into how the HMs are feeling.

I much prefer Davina's interviewing style for the evictees than Dermot's. She has a way of putting people at ease that he doesn't have yet.

I'm not saying he's not a good presenter, I really like him on BBLB, but I don't think he could handle the Friday night program.

I also can't see much difference between BBLB this year and last, except for a different set. I think that was a bit of a rush job to be honest.

How frustrating is it not to be able to see the diary room live!? OK, skip the nominations if needed, and I guess it would need extra care to edit out things if the housemates started saying things too personal but when it's for a telling off, or something amusing then it would make a great addition to the E4 feeds.

Ahh, I agree with that. His style wouldn't suit a "post eviction" interview - though Davina sometimes hypes up the evictee if they don't seem excitted enough as well as putting them at ease. She is good at reading the person and also knowing what will make good TV...but Dermots style comes across as more honest with me because it isn't so slick and professional.

True; the sound was accidentally left on in the diary room a bit earlier this evening when Spencer was told by BB to move his mattress back to the bedroom, and he couldn't have reacted more cocky and rebellious if he tried.

Needless to say, it was quite amusing.

I like Dermot very much, I also was an Alison fan, but for some reason I got the impression he was not particularly fond of her. Is it just me being over sensitive?

My girlfriend spotted this after her first appearance; can't say I noticed, mind (apart from the odd thing like ignoring/talking over her jokes and comments at times -- see tonight's Spiderman "shooting threads" bit -- but I kind of put that down to having to rush on to the next item). Maybe it was the fact that she constantly pronounced his name "Der-MOTT"?

Anyone know if they have something special planned for tomorrow? Thursday's usually the housemates' last BBLB appearance but Alison was given her send-off tonight -- had Der-MOTT had enough of her mangling his name or something?
