I saw the DS article and groaned as well - sounds absolutely horrendous and I hope it's unfounded rumour.

I'll take it as a pinch of salt. It is from the daily star after all.

Although a part of me would find Chris Evans painted up in red paint with plastic horns on his head funny in a bizzare sense.

As a rule, I think getting actual actors in might be better for the programme's integrity than inviting much-reviled celebs who happen to have the good fortune to have been partnered with the show's star in the past.

But who am I kidding?

I don't know - if he had a big heavy weight dropped on him within 10 seconds of his appearance and before he could speak - then no more was every heard from him

What would Billie Piper think about it?

Please let it be untrue.

Well according to the DS article quoted above she would find it a giggle as they are still friends, though if I was her I don't think I'd be very thrilled at the prospect.

Well, with the possible exception of the Cybermen, I've yet to hear a single rumour about Season#2 that hasn't made me think "Oh God! No! What on Gallifrey...".

I'm sure I've read interviews with both of them where they've said they still get on really well, so perhaps she would find it funny.

I wouldn't be very amused to see him though. Watching Aliens of London last night, some of the acting from professional actors was just painful - I don't even want to think about how bad Chris Evans would be.
