Above Beyond right now are ****ING AMAZING!

Great mashup - AvB - Birth of an Angel (inst. of Shivers) vs Angelic - It's My Turn. Genius!

I got pretty envious listening to this last night. This time a fortnight ago I was in Space for We Love..... With the redevelopment of the terrace complete, this is possibly the best club on the planet. It's certainly my favourite club out of those I've been to. Laurent Garnier followed by Deep Dish with Morillo kicking things off early, this will have been some night.

Top broadcast - wish I had been there. I hope they are back in Ibiza next year with more of the same.

Eric Morillo played a blinding set and the crowd were loving it

Spent 11 hours (!) in Space one sunday before the renovation. Very moody bar staff (mind you they were missing the World Cup final!), £40 in, £5 for half a coca cola, fervently anti-drug security guys actually looking under your toilet cubicle door and on the night I've never seen so many people crammed into a club. A cramped, steambath where you could hardly move let alone dance, I just thought "you greedy ba***rds".

However, during the afternoon when it was less crowded and the sun was streaming through the matting onto the terrace it was indeed one of the best clubbing experiences we'd ever had, very special.

Last time I went out there Dave Pearce was DJing at Manumission's bar and no one took a blind bit of notice which was quite funny. It's weird, you wander down to Mambo to watch the sunset and there's Pete Tong spinning a few tunes, no big deal, no entrance fee. You'd have to pay £20 for that here!

Have to agree, their prices are a total rip of,but then so is any club in Ibiza. I've been to Space a few times and I have to say in my opinion it is the best club on the planet. It's a weird experience out on the terrace with planes flying so low over head but I love it,so many beautiful people just having an excellent time in the sweltering sun, what summers all about really. I can remember in 1999,my first summer in Ibiza,me and a mate fell in love with the island so we said f*ck going home,we'll look for jobs and stay the summer. We got inteviews for Space, £10 per shift, and a max of 3 shifts per week. Needless to say we returned home as planned.

Space is the best club but this year the best experience was Circoloco at DC10, absolute madness, some very big name dj's as punters in the party spirit And with drinks prices approaching bar prices (as opposed to Pacha's second mortgage pricing), this is the best club experience I've had in years.

As for dj's in bars.... A week last Thursday we strolled from our apartment down to Sunsea and Coastline at 11.30pm. We'd just missed Sasha at sunsea and got a drink in Coastline. Ten minutes later Tiesto turns up to dj the Cream pre party, the place goes loony and an amazing fireworks display starts on the beach in front for the next 15 minutes. Coastline is now rammed so we walk the twenty yards back to Sunsea where I get served at the bar and turn to my right to see Paul Oakenfold being poured a vodka six inches away from me! Crazy!

Cafe Mambo,Cafe Del Mar,Space,Amnesia,Eden,Es Paradis,Pacha,DC10,Coastline,Privilage,Bar M. They would be the most famous. As for the DJ's there does seem to be a famous DJ everywhere you look. I was lucky enough to run into Judge Jules also in Coastline, top bloke, always has time for people, unlike other DJ's,I.E Seb Fontaine who proved to be a right **** when the missus asked him for an autograph at One Big Weekend last year.

DC10 is the one I'd really like to try and, as you say, it sounds more in keeping with the spirit of the place, if indeed there's any left. We went late season 2 years ago and it all seemed to be dying on its arse. Could only afford to do one big club night (ridiculous isn't it?) and tried Underwater's night at Pacha. It was about 1/3 full and, understandably, never really got going. Saw Har Mar Superstar perform to a small and indifferent crowd at Bar M while he shouted 'applaud me you mother***ers!' Rest of the week we just did the Bora Bora thing (it's free) and other beaches, which is really nice.

However, now the big club owners have pushed prices up so only the wealthiest young things can afford it, they've realised people like us have fled to Bora Bora and free parties and I hear these greedheads are using their considerable influence to get outdoor gatherings stopped so there's no choice but to pay their extortionate fees. It's annoying on two levels. 1. I'm sure Space makes as much noise as DC10 and 2. I am an undesirable because I can't afford to spend £40 plus (and the rest of it, drinks etc) everynight to get in a club. Because of this I must be one of those West End scumbags pissed up on lager dancing to DJ Sammy huh? This is why I have not been back since. I sincerely hope it does get back on track cause it is a very special place, maybe I could sleep in a dustbin round the back of the Pacha Hotel or something?

!!! Someone is definitely making a LOT of money..

Sorry... i was being sarcastic

i know there are loads of fantastic clubs and bars, but radio 1 only ever seem to mention Cafe del mar, mambo & space - oh and a few years ago dropping the name bora bora every five seconds...

i wonder when the contracts run out?

There are many clubs and bars but loads of them are just horrid tourist traps or typical 'English' pubs. There's a handful of superclubs, a bunch of smaller decent places and some really nice bars but not as many as you'd think.

Having said that, I'm listening to the listen again webcast of the essential mix from DC10, that fresh enough for you?
