From the Guardian Newspaper's media website:

[admin edit]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I knew something had happened under those covers - and their reactions the next day were weird if it was only a snog. Yet another cover up... this is getting tiresome.

No wonder Endemol are exasperated. There really *is* a risk of the whole thing folding. Whilst a lot of contestants would never really go despite what they may be saying, its a concern. I thought that if one person did then it would create a domino effect. When Sunita left a fortnight ago, she showed them that it was possible, that it could be done. Sandy built on this and therefore optional leaving is more of a reality for the housemates.

Rather than procrastinate stupidly about what they ought to do (in my opinion putting Alison back in - spring boarding her over the fence into the garden would be good for effect) we need to think what they should do to calm everything down and clean up the mess.

First and foremost, and I have a suspicion that the C4 bigwigs will have told them to this: the bars have to come down. Simple as that. The novelty factor lasted about an hour but the housemates absolutely hate it and its ruining the programme. As for this new contestant, well they need to be good. Not the latest in a catalogue of disappointments - someone who will really liven the place up.

What are your thoughts?

that's one way of finishing off the house!

Andrew - as Mr Omega said - please don't post copyrighted text to the forum. A pracy plus a link to the original article is fine, but posting the entire article gets us into trouble with the content owners.

I apologise for infringing one of the rules. I don't quite think there was a calling to be told twice, however, unless there's some kind of echo going on in here.

Erm, seeing as you've taken away the article are you going to put the link up? Or has it been moved somewhere else?

Maybe they should do a vote, instead of evicting someone this week, they do a vote.

Do you want Alison back in, or do you want a new person?
Hmm... maybe not. I guess the people who voted for Alison wouldn't want her back, but maybe they have changed their minds by now. Alison does however have the knowledge of what everyone said about her in one way or another... but she did seem very very keen to get back in there.

The PJ-BJ?

We'll never know for sure but the serious point about the Media Guardian article is the fact that Channel 4 bosses are appearing to exercise editorial control over the programme and are therefore undermining the Endemol producers. Enough has been said about the job they (Endemol) are doing 3rd time around.

For the conspiracy theorists in the forum, there may be a couple of possible reasons for this: -

1. If they "save" that revelation for after the show it will help sell more of the "uncut" videos.

2. They don't want to upset the ITC on the eve of the DTT Licence applications.

More realistically, if they admit sex has happened all of those waiting for it may give up and turn over.

I think you can if it's following a thread, which it is.

There was no mention of the fact of the mutiny on sandys last night, they just said bb gave them some wine etc. Also they did not show spencer crossing the divide or kate crossing. They only showed clips about the strikes, and i like spencers woo-hoo and asking for a badge

Last night spencer said if he was in the poor house next week and he runs out of tobacco that he would be leaving, bb refused to help him out, so he said something like he`s not doing plan a,b or sandys c and doing plan d instead where he just breaks all the rules and gets three strikes and then refuses to leave. causing as much trouble as possible.

good on spencer, it's a complete farce this year, and what exactly could they save for the dvd, everything took place under cover of darkness, it's just that they don't want to admit to it, like the way they said big brother gave the poor side some beer cos of sandy leaving, when he was the one who instigated it, they couldn't cover up spencer being on the rich side when sandy went over the top, and what about the break in. And don't go on about the viewing figures, that is in part cos of saddo's like me who have watched the last two clinging on in some hope that it will improve, word of mouth, hype has done the trick, if this carries on then next years series must be in serious doubt.

Just WHY should they let Alison back in?
She was fairly nominated by the HM's, and was fairly voted out by the viewers...so just why should she be let back in?

If she was, and another HM walked, then would someone else who is evicted in the next couple of weeks be let back in?

EXACTLY!!!

Strikes me everyone is totally over-reacting. Of course there is no big collapse scare at channel 4. Its sentimental viewers hyping it up cos they want to see it fail. The problem is everyone got so comfortable with the first two series of pappy less challenging competitors and situations that when the program has a different feel you all clamour for the more comfortable times and try to negate this series. This series is just different thats all. No big collpase, no dispair, just different. And im loving it.

As the programme broadcasters, and ultimately as registered owners of the broadcasting license, C4 has total control of editing of all programmes on C4......... AT ALL TIMES!
All Endemol are is TV and Film programme makers, ultimate editing matters are ALWAYS the role of the broadcaster (C4)[COLOR=red]As the programme broadcasters, and ultimately as registered owners of the broadcasting license, C4 has total control of editing of all programmes on C4......... Yes but don`t endemol own the brand name and format of big brother? and therefore don`t want to see the brand spoiled by C4? after all they showed it all on E4 so why cut it from the main show?

Endemol will have been approached by C4 and commisioned to make the third series of BB, Endemol ultimately own the brand name and general format, but without a broadcaster the film just remains in the film can!
So who else is there to broadcast BB in the UK if not C4?
BBC?....don't think so......
Carlton/Granada......too risky for them too.
C5?......Not as of yet, and probably couldn't afford the price Endemol would charge for making the series.
Sky?.....Unlikely, as there would be too much interference from other sectors of the Media Group.

Also, C4 would have tied Endemol up in a contract which in all probability gives C4 an option on all UK BB's for several years at least.

So Endemol are undoubtably tied to C4 for the foreseeable future, and as the holders of the ITC license C4 will dictate content.

I can't argue with your facts DinD.

But at what point does ownership become corporate interference?

Would you condone Rupert Murdoch taking hands-on editorial control and blatantly removing all England football coverage from the Sun for example?

It is the Endemol team that are the creators of the BB concept and C4 have been more guilty than anyone in using previous sexual undercurrents to hype viewing.

For some reason - maybe they don't want to peak too soon - they are trying to pretend it never happened this time.

PS if the rumour is true does this make Jade in the poor house an efficient Hunter/Gatherer??

A few years ago Quentin Tarrentino stated that given fifteen minutes alone with Mother Theresa and a video camera, he could make her out to be the Antichrist!
Clever editing can very easily be used to give false and warped impressions of people, editing can make a mountain out of the smallest molehill when done expertly.
I have noticed that C4 editors have used the 35 minutes of nightly exposure to really highlight even the smallest slip up of HM's. For example.....when they tried to make it look as if Lee never bothered to leave the couch when Sandy climbed the wall.

Made it look as if he was the only housemate who never came out to shout encoragement...when in fact he did!

Not much of the diary room stuff is shown either...have you noticed?

even Bazalgette, one of the "Big Cheese", confesses that there are worries

well why don't they bloody well do something about it like take down those bars, introduce more tasks and just generally get things back to normal.
