BB gone wrong
Bryan

In my opinion BB3 is fast becoming a big let down IMO, none of the housemates want to be there and if anyone else comes in are they going to see it through? it seems sunita "opened the door " as it were and has made housemates present and future realise they can stay for just a week if they want too, and just walk out the door and claim there 5 minutes of fame.
Do you think there will be a BB4 in the same format as this one? what changes would you make for BB4?

I'm still thinking about what changes they need to make on BB3! Still enough time to get the format sorted, and to my mind the easiest is to go back to the same format of BB2?

I think that i would make the average housemates age a little older than what it is at present as i think that the house would benefit from a little more Intelligence & maturity

i'm really not watching bb3 as much as bb2, when watching through the night you don't want to watch drunk idiots, i'd much rather watch dean and bubble's chats round the fire. let's just hope more people leave so they can bring in the people that should have been there from the start.

I think its been the best one so far. In BB1 if you took away the Nick story then did anything happen, I can't remember. And BB2 everyone wet themselves over Paul and Helen cuddling under the duvet. If you compare with previous BB's then already we've had the mind games ( Nick = Sandy and/or Adele ), thick quotes ( Helen = Jade ), love triangle ( Mel, Andy, Tom = Lee, Adele, Sophie ), bust ups ( Craig & Caroline = Brian & Josh = Alex & Jonny ) and all we need now is for someone to develop an obsession about a chicken and we've got the set.

Get the red specs off and give BB a chance....

I think the show has run its course. If you look at the Insider site you'll see that C4 has imposed a news blackout on the bedroom antics between Jade and PJ the other night. Similarly last night between Lee and Sophie. The channel has bottled it, and if Joe Public isn't even told about the extent contestants have developed their relationships what is the point of continuing it all? Irrespective of whether you're there for titillation or people watching, if you are spared the information then it's a meaningless exercise. The prize money is too low to keep the contestants' interest, the voting is being rigged one way or another, and there is no human interest!

Shame really - it has such great potential!

One thing i thought might be an interesting thing for the housemates to do is they could vote in a replacement instead of one being chosen for them, they could be given a choice of say six people, three male, three female and have a picture and brief profile of them all, this way they might get someone that has more chance of staying to the end.

GET RID OF THE DEVIDE, THAT WOULD BE A GOOD START FOR THE REST OF BB3 AND THEY BETTER NOT INCLUDE ONE IN BB4

PJ wins the task on Saturaday and goes into the diary room and says that he wants to live on the rich side, but only wants to take one other person with him - Spencer!! Cue 24 hour drinking binges with very drunk PJ & Spencer gloating to the others through the bars. Plus no doubt leaving the rich side looking like a bombsite for the next group.

The bars were clearly always going to arrive when they did -
hence the farcial first task. They knew the would get a slagging
for it but everyone would forget when the bars went up. Which
brings me to my point - this series seems to be about instant
gratification - the bars make for good saturday night/sunday
viewing - during the week they don't care about the HM much
(hence the lack of tasks). The bars won't come down - imagine
the meetings:

"Lets take the bars down - no one likes them"

"But what would we do instead?"

The HM don't have any strong bonds so we are deprived of all the
subtle making and breaking of friendships and bonds from the last
two series.

People leaving is very different too - because the H/H brings out
the very worst in people WE the viewers don't have the strong
bonds with the characters - we know who we don't like So its purely
a get that person out 'cos I don't like them - this will continue to
the end I think.

The HM don't have the huge sense of loss when someone gos - they
just get a "it could be me" feeling and there is one less person
competing for resources.

All of this will make the end part of the show much less compelling -
they clearly expect a huge rate of attrition (they are NOT going to
get to the end without expelling Spencer at this rate) and eveyone
they bring in will make us care a little less - I couldn't be bothered
watching any of last nights "new guest" - looks like an arsehole
to me - not sure how bothered I am about getting to know him...

The high ratings will tail off as the viewers realise that they are
watching a bunch of selfish wannabes who don't like each other..

just some thoughts

Regarding the news blackout.. I can understand that, I mean, the papers going to town calling BB some sex romp show is bad press, even tho its good press. If you see what I mean.

However, BB is not ignoring this event. Far from it. Yesterday on Channel 4, the Psychologist actually graphically pointed out what happened between them, showing PJ talking to two house mates and using his hands to jesture that he pushed Jades head down towards his crotch. Now, that was far from obvious to Joe Bloggs, but when the psychologist analysed his hand movements and body language, no one was left wondering exactly what Jade and PJ did that night.

As C4 have the rights until 2005 they need to act now to ensure that the public do not loose interest in the whole concept.

How about BB4 being couples? 6 couples, two bedrooms each with three double beds. Nominations are for individuals, not couples. After two people have left one double bed is removed. The event to be shown on 4XXX a new digital digital only channel with a number in the 980's

C4 also have rights for further celeb BB's plus "specials"

What would I do improve BB enough to make BB4 worth while.

Ok well firstly, work out how they went wrong with their selection process. A contestant leaving after one week suggests a serious flaw in how they picked their contestants. Sandy leaving confirms this.

If BB4 is to work, they need to get their selection process SPOT ON and get a good group of people. Who knows, this may be impossible due to the BB 1 and BB 2 aspect. People will have seen these shows and so have conceptions about what is going to happen, which ultimately lead to disappointment etc.

Maybe BB need to do things a little differently next time, and actually pick a short list, and get them together in groups, and do some day challenges somewhere... and see how people work together, and then pick. Thats what they did with Castaway 2000 and that seemed to go well, although there where some fall outs, even after their strict selection process.

Changes for BB4 that I would look into, if I where involved :

- Make the house alot more simple. I'm talking going back to the BB 1 house design and using that. The current house is imo too complicated and luxurious. They tried too hard here to impress when they didn't need to. At the moment, the contestants are not reminded of why there are in BB. The house is too luxurious and spacey. We need confined spaces, basic appliances such as the bathroom... reasons for them to be reminded of exactly why they are there.

- Explain to the contestants that leaving the house is not an option unless evicted, or a doctor recommends it on health grounds, both physical and mental. Anyone who doesn't like this idea will be filtered out and you will be left with the people who want to stick it out. A doctors opinion is there incase someone really does flip.

- More challenges, say, one on Wednesday, one on Saturday, with good rewards such as drink and social rewards. But other rewards too. BB have wasted a great opportunity with the WORLD CUP to bring in world cup reward systems. The entire house are gagging, literally going crazy, trying to think of how well England are doing in the World Cup. Lee himself said he is glad to be out of BB to watch England. Why have BB ignored this? Surely they could have worked into a challenge, a reward of informing the group how well England are doing at the moment. 20 minutes of a group game is a rubbish reward. BB should introduce a challenge, the prize, to find out who England play next, and which stage the match is for, and what time it happens. Its gotten so crazy, that the BB contestants are listening out for the beeping of car horns, which btw is outside information.

- LESS BOOZE - Big mistake here BB. Booze should be a luxury item, given as a reward and something that is *RARE*, imo. For example, if the group win a challenge, they get £100 alcholol quota and can pick what they want. At the moment, every night, or day even, is a booze fest.

- More group challenges. At the moment, the challenges are far from group orientated. They are more based on single performances. The group need to work together as a team and actually get stuck into something. The song was a good example of how well this can work.

- Less fixing. What I mean by this is, they need to stop trying to engineer situations. This can be done with less drink. But also, why are there so many birthdays falling in the BB period. Is this a coincidence?

All in all, I think BB need to go back to their roots, and look at how they ran Big Brother 1.

This is what we've been saying at my work for weeks...unless they are obviously going loopy, are ill, have a major family bereavement in the real world whilst in the house or are evicted they should have to sign a contract thet binds them legally into staying in the house.

“How about BB4 being couples?”

No, I don't think this one would be good but if they could just ensure that ALL the contestants are single it'd be a good start rather than all this "I fancy Sophie/Adele but I have a girlfriend"..."I wish I hadn't done that with Jade as there is someone I hope is waiting for me outside"...."Helen, I won't do anything til your relationship on the outside is sorted out" crap.

“ More group challenges.”

Definately as it would encourage bonding....

“they get £100 alcholol quota”

Maybe not as such but I think the whole "gambling a percentage of your food budget" shouldn't have been dropped.Maybe with the rich/poor divide it could have been adapted so that the poor side would have gained the money lost by the rich side to get "luxuries" like meat, ketchup, foil etc to make their food more fun...
