Ninja Tunes
I thought that there were too many pop-related threads on here, thought I would see if any other DS'rs liked my favorite record label, Ninja Tune. Nothing wrong with pop mind, just not my bag.
They have great artists on Ninja like my favorite band, The Herbaliser and renowned "soundscaper" Amon Tobin (who did the excellent soundtrack for the recent Splinter Cell video game). First off, anyone here listen to artists from the label and if so who are your favs and why? Below is a list of some more artists who are also on Ninja... Coldcut Pest DK DJ Food The Cinematic Orchestra Roots Manuva Quantic The Quantic Soul Orchestra Hexstatic (brilliant video artists also) and many more.... |

I love the Cinematic Orchestra, especially the track 'Dawn'. What I've heard of Amon Tobin is excellent too.
The Herbaliser rings a bell but I can't recall any of their tracks at the moment. And I used to be a fan of Coldcut about 12 years ago.

Like all that stuff, saw Hexstatic and other Ninja types just 2 weeks ago (Big Chill). The visuals were amazing. They repeated their Countdown skit where the letters spell Hexstatic and extended it into a tribute to Richard Whitely which got an enormous cheer, quite touching that. Got quite a few of their mammoth compilations, alwyas enjoy the Funki Porcini tracks. Have you heard the Amon Tobin/Chris Morris track 'Bad Sex'? Very strange.

Liking the Treva Whateva album at the moment. Recommended if you're a Lemon Jelly fan.
Looking forward to some new Bonobo material with the new live element. Quantic isn't on Ninja though! He's on the also ace Tru Thoughts. Another good album too. |

whoops your right Quantic arent on Ninja... but they fit right in there!
saw Hexstatic at the Glade festival this year, nothing beats surreal beats and video mixing on top! Herbalisers latest album "Take London" i would highly reccomend to anyone, has some instumental tracks as well as their usual non-gangsta oriented rap tracks. My favorite Amon Tobin album has to be Supermodified, some revolutionary tracks on that one! Lemon Jelly rules as well, the latest album I didnt think was quite as good as KY and Lost Horizons, but still excellent. "The Staunton Lick" is my fav tune of theirs I think. |

To quote the sleeve notes: "F*ck dance, let's art!" ![]() Mr Scruff is also on Ninja Tune. He good. Edit: and if you don't own 70 Minutes of Madness, then your life isn't as complete as it should be
