When was that quote (mentioned in the tile of this thread) said? I must have missed it.

Adele said it several times when they were discussing what months had what number of days. Alex used the knuckles technique and got it right and Adele told him he was wrong because September and November were next to each other and both had 30 days.

Adele was talking about the rhyme "30 days have September, April, June and November" She meant that they were together in the rhyme not in the calender!

But they are not together in the rhyme. She said she thought they were next to each other in the calender, not once but several times.

Sorry I didn't explain what I meant very well!!

I think she meant that September and November were both in the same part of the rhyme not *together* as in next to each other.

No, she meant the she thought September and November where consecutive months, she forgot about October.

Alex was trying to explain the knuckle method of remembering how many days there are in each month, which after Adele confused him he decided didn't work, but it does.

Start with the knuckle of your smallest finger on your left hand, that's January (31 days) the space between that kunckle and the next is February (28/29 days), the next kunckle is March (31 days) the next gap April (30 days) etc. All your knuckles correspond to months with 31 days, the gaps to the others. After July (knuckle of index finger on left hand) you have to swap to the other hand (knuckle on index finger of right hand) as July and August both have 31 days.

Simple!!!!

Adele forgot about October!

I still say she meant the months with only 30 days in them!

No, she was trying to tell Alex that his method didn't work because September and November are consecutive months, with the same number of days.
