What is so good about spencer? What does he do? And why are som many people infatuated with him? How can someone this dull be favourite to win?

i totally agree. i posted about htis yesturday. ppl like alex and adele who do all the cooking cleaning etc should win. or ppl like jade and kate who r a ladf. spencer isnt funny, exciting, he jus sits on his arswe all day!

I like him! His looks don't really do anything for me, he's too short, but he's got a cracking sense of humour. Shame he's a bit smelly though. I do agree I'd rather alex won tbh, but definitely not Jade, she'd be dangerous with 70k in her pocket! And as for Kate, I don't think she deserves to be in there at all!

I like spencer - hes got a good sense of humor and a rebellious streak.

I don't get all this - hes doesn't do anything in the house cooking and cleaning wise - who cares - WE don't have to live with him.

However if the bars stay up (which I hope they don't no matter how good last night was) then he IS going to get chucked out (or make the BB producers look very stupid indeed).

I agree in that I fail to see what is supposedly so goodlooking about him: I think he's rather bland - but then I've never understood womens' idea of "good looking" : I mean, JADE thinks SHE'S better looking than Kate !!!!!!!!!

Any Psychology grads out there? I recall from my dim at distant days at Poly(technic) [showing my age now!] that an experiment was done to find a universally good looking male and female face. It combined lots of pictures of people reported as attractive into a single picture to find the generally most attractive. My rusty old memory is telling me that the picture of the boy was not disimilar to Spencer..
Does anyone know where I might find a pic of the person, or at least could someone confirm/deny my memory?

I seem to recall the female picture was quite "baby"-like, but nothing more than that.

I seem to remember discussing something in psychology about this, although I hasten to say I'm not a psychology grad - it was a module in a diploma I was doing in Childhood Studies (very apt for viewing BB!!!). I remember it as being something to do with a certain regularity of facial features plus the symmetry (sorry if the spelling's iffy!) of each side of the face. Can't be more specific as it's in the distant (and getting all the more distant) past

Yeh, did anyone see the programme about the human face with john cleese. that said that people considered attractive have symmetrical faces and all of their features are close to the middle of their faces, like babies. this is why babies are thought of as cute. so if attractive people have symmetrical features, I guess they shouldnt have all shaved those bits of their eyebrows?

EVERYONE: Nickerscat seems to be most qualified to judge the HMs (having done Childhood studies!) so we should all pay attention to whatever he/she has to say.

I might try and find my old textbooks, cos I've got myself all curious now.

Actually I'd love to hear your comments on the dependancy shown by Jade, and Kate. They strike me (Jade especially) as being very-childlike. What would you say is Jade's mental age for example?

I am assumming in this thread that most of those who find Spencer attractive are women, as a man I tend to agree with Alex's point of view that his personal hygiene habits leave a lot to be desired.

I think the child thing may have a lot to do with it, perhaps he appeals to the maternal instinct in women.

Judging by his lazyness he must still get looked after by his mum at home.

Maybe we wouldn't find Spencer so attractive if we had smellievision?

I suppose it's quite difficult for a guy to determine if another guy is good looking (just surmising). Personally I don't find Spencer attractive, too boyish for my liking. As for Jade well they say that if you don't love yourself, no-one else will .

As long as it's only 'several' women Jack then you have got no worries

Thanks Jack - I'm a girlie by the way!!! Hmm, Jade's mental age is interesting - I may get slapped for saying this but I haven't met anyone quite like her outside a 'special educational needs' situation. I am quite surprised she got into BB as I would have seen her as unpredictable and a bit of a liability. Her reasoning doesn't seem to go beyond a child's level (and I've got four kids - my eldest, aged nine, being significantly more able on that level than Jade). Her reaction to being nominated for eviction by the public the first week was a bit of a warning sign - I dread what will happen when she finally does get evicted and I hope she doesn't get a hard time because she really won't understand why as she is unable to comprehend much about her actions having consequences. I just hope they give her help when she gets out to cope with all the media attention etc as the whole thing could really f*** her up. This is the bit I'm uncomfortable with about the whole thing - she has been used and manipulated by BB without much thought seemingly being given to her future wellbeing - lets throw the token thicko in there, it'll be good for the viewing figures. I don't like Jade at all but really pity her coming out of the house and been seen as the national laughing stock. Obnoxious and irritating she may be, some to a large extent it's not really her fault.
Kate seems to me to be incredibly insecure which she tries very hard to mask. I think she is very competitive with other females and sees them as a threat. Much has been made of her attaching herself to the strongest housemates, as she perceived them, ie Alison and Spencer. I have a slightly different take on this. I think she attached herself to Alison because she saw Alison as the least threat to her and probably thought of herself as much more attractive (what do they say about women liking to have an ugly mate - NOT that I think Alison was ugly), she also probably saw Alison as a maternal figure who would provide her with the reassurance she needed. By staking her claim on Spencer she was bolstering her self esteem by getting close to, who she thought, was the best looking guy in the house (which I think is Alex personally!). She gave herself away by being so very bothered by the comment over the wall and sought reassurance from the others, but to do so revealed rather more about herself and dug herself further into a hole. She became quite quiet and introverted when separated from Alison through eviction and Spencer through the heaven/hell divide.
Anyway I'll shut up now having probably bored the tits off everyone!!!

I've actually talked before the bloke friends about this: and none of us could work out what a woman would find attractive in a man with any reliability. Has to be said it wasn't very scientific: small sample size and I believe there may have been alcohol involved...

I agree with the postting she is being used as a point of ridicule not just by BB but also by other CH4 programmes like Graham Norton. I used to think GN was funny, but his constant references to pigs etc about Jade are becoming tedious.

I have been asking my other half who he thinks is the best looking guy in the house but I just got a grunt saying 'I'm not the best person to comment on the men am I?' Pushed he said 'Alex' , which I can go along with. We disagreed on the women though, I think Adelle is really striking but Nick thought Kate and Sophie better and Jade much worse!!! I must add I don't look anything like either Kate or Sophie (or God forbid - Jade) - much, much better!!!
