Goldmans was traditionally a Jewish run firm, not sure if it still is. No nastyness in this, it was and maybe still is a fact. The Jewish community in London is fairly close knit as far as i can tell, so it's more likely that your parents will know someone who can help you get a job. After all who would you rather employ, someone you have spoken to in an interview for 1 hr, or someone you have known since they were born. At least with the latter you can be a little surer of what you are getting.
