Thoughts on Simon Cowell
endeka

Personally, I've always liked Simon Cowell, I've enjoyed how he's always "said it like it is". However, I'm starting to wonder if he's become a parody of himself, and if he's suffering from delusion (like so many applicants for his show). I first started to question his judgement when I found out he was responsible for Curisosity's absolute trashing cover of "Hang on in there baby" by Johnny Bristol, which he then classed as one of his favourite (the cover that is!!!).

I wonder if he suffers from attention deficit. He stated tonight that he thought, on the final evening, that G4 should've won. On performance that evening I totally agree with him performance wise , however is that when his enthusiasm waned. OK, he'd won the show, which is what he wanted, but he also realised he wouldn't sell as many albums, so time to move on. Instead of really taking on the challenge of making something work. In a way he did the same with Michelle McManus, geared the public towards voting for her then left her high and dry. Only Will Young appears to have been strong enough to have stood up to the great one, got his own way and proved Mr Cowell wrong (in that he never thought Will should've won, yet he's probably made him the most money UK wise).

I'm beginning to think he's incapable of working with an artist unless they agree to record covers. It's a fast buck for him and the record company. He should never have let Steve Brookstein release "Dance with My Father" so soon after the original recording which, again in my opinion was a classic and no cover could do it justice.

I'd be interest in your thoughts.

Hi endeka, I totally agree with your thoughts on Simon Cowell. Just to let you know, Steve didn't release "dance with my father", the single was called "take a look at me now". Dance with My Father was on his album, which was brilliant I might add;0))

Definitely just an parody of himself ! Now he's just doing cover versions of his greatest lines.

Sadly he reminds me of Archie Rice - "Just One Look" - delusion!

I wasnt a big fan of Steves. Still love G4 and always will but there is one thing that critics cant fault Louis Walsh for and that is his commitment to and genuine care he has for his acts. I really hope that my favourites end up in his group once again this year.

Hiya Deelight2004. Wasn't sure if he released it or not, thought I did see him perform it on some TV programme. I did think though that was the second single - am probably totally wrong. I hope he gets the chance to release his own music then he can really be judged.

Simon is playing a Smug Louis limitation game I think.

If you remember last year Louis mentioned Michelle when he was having a pop at Simon - Simon knows that Louis will be lording it up with regards to G4's success.

Simon is trying to take the wind out of his sails a bit by pre-empting the G4 were the real winners comment that Louis was bound to have come out with.

I don't think Simon has done himself or the show many favours with the way he has dumped on Steve. Whether you are a Steve fan or not the lack of care he shows for his people is there for all to see - I would imagine that this attitude will have put quite a number of people off voting.

I heart Simon forever

Whichever way you look at it, he's been extremely successful, although I don't think he handles the reality TV contestants very well once the programmes have ended! But how can I not love that cheeky sense of humour, those lovely eyes, and ooooffff...*shudders*

Exactly, I like the man as a person (without knowing him of course), but I wouldn't want to do business with him if I was an artist.

And I don't question his taste in music - just his sacrilege of covering that music!

Agreed

Well, certainly not a reality TV contestant...BMG are very harsh with dropping people before giving them a real chance actually, I remember a girl called Nina Jayne last year who sounded good and they dropped her before her single even got released!

It's a tax thing allegedly (just covering myself) (or it certainly used to be), sign so many artists, don't do anything to promote so many and it's offset against the ones that make money.

At least you know where you stand with Simon. I think he plays to the telly though, wonder if he's like it in real life.

Ah he's so adorable

Hmm, the tax thing is interesting...I suppose it works for BMG, just not for the poor people who get left behind!

Well since you asked, yes, there is more than enough evidence he suffers from attention deficit disorder (quits Pop Idol after 2 years, plans to quit X Factor after this year, would quit American Idol if the money wasn't so good- his slumped over, bored out of his gourd appearance week after week during the audition phase of AI is classic ADD, especially for an adult)! More than likely though, his ADD is a manifestation of a bigger problem, like fetal alcohol syndrome. He's got enough of the classic signs.

Wow, wasn't expecting that - you sound like you work in the medical profession?

In this age of information technology, it doesn't take a health professional to figure out that Simon Cowell is off kilter. His degradation of people like Steve and others that he previously championed is indicative of a troubled personality. And he does it without an ounce of shame, so lets give him the benefit of the doubt, and assume he can't help it due to some congenital condition!
