I think you misunderstood Cerb's comment:
They merely said that you were making a big assumption, which you were. They did NOT say that:
a) You're assumption was necessarily WRONG
b) that it was a BAD asuumption.
The spirit of Cerb's comment seemed that they were asking what basis you'd made assumption on - which is a fair question in proper mature argument.
Or is that not what you want?
