BBLB has just gone to an add break. All I can say is what a fiasco. So much for the housemates song if they aren't going to show it. What a joke. This censorship thing is becoming very tiresome now.

It's a bit early for the lyrics they were singing...

Go for the Web feeds, much better.

FYI I thought the song was rubbish.

Remember the thing called 'watershed'???? This is why the song was cut out, if they are swaring they cannot broadcast it before 9pm. It is the same for any TV show, not just BB.

Depends what the swearing was. Do we know what they said?

Thanks Santo

The only word there that would push the envelope was "shite".
"bastard" is easy to get away with if the continuity announcer says "sorry" at the break.

After all- they said "bastards" on World rally and that finished at 8.00.

Surely they could've just "beeped" out "shite"?

well that wasn't bad swearing....they still could get in trouble for it though. It's a funny old world in TV production.

It's not that funny: they'll have licence conditions to comply with.
What is funny is that people might complain, and they can/do complain about ANYTHING, and then the ITC would uphold or reject the complaint.

The song performance is currently being replayed on interactive (SkyD).

I know, that was the point I was making earlier and have made a few times. I work in TV and know very well what viewers complain about and how much trouble it can cause.

I suppose they could of recorded the song, beeped out the naughty bits, and played it at the end of BBLB but it was probably not worth the effort....

I don't often post on here, but I just had to come on and say how constantly suprised I am at the complete lack of common sense displayed on the BB forum. Channel 4 can't show swearing before 9pm. Deal with it. The sound dips a lot - there are 10 housemates in there all vying for attention, and constantly swearing. Deal with it. If it worries you so much, fill in the blanks with your own foul language.

They started to show it at 23:20 and then cut it off: so that stuff about the watershed was clearly rubbish.

ho hum
the ugly head of FECKING POINTLESS and frankly patronising censorship rears its ugly head.

I didn't see BBLB at 7, and was watching it just now. I'm assuming that it was just recorded earlier and repeated now, so someone would have had to edit in the song, which they obviously didn't do...

anyone watch both?

Was just thinking this, 'cause that's what they did with the Sunita and Sandy 'exit interview' special BBLB's.

What???? OMG, I really would like to understand what c4 are hoping to achieve.

Unless WE'RE all the ones who are on BB and they're seeing how we react to the stress of being treated unfairly and patronisingly, and its actually Spencer et al who are watching US.

No other explanation makes any sense.

If the swearing is the problem (although I don't know if it was when Tim came into the house) then why was, on the E4 feeds earlier in the day, the full set of words heard very clearly?

I agree - censorship is the only thing that should be censored.

But, since that's not going to happen, you would have thought that BB would have improved it's sound editing over the 3 series. Having watched the web feeds on BB1 and BB2 and hence knowing what was actually said a lot of the time when the sound would be muted for 5 or 10 mins at a time, just because someone said something lasting 10 seconds I'd have hoped this would have improved this year....ok, actually it probably has improved if I think about it, but it's still very lazy editing it seems to me. They tend to switch to the chickens and plane noises on the prime feed for a long time while still finding plenty they can show on the B feed...those without interactive are then missing this for no reason. Also, the same video and audio is still often muted on one feed and not the other, so where's the logic in that? Also, with lip reading, it's often clear the odd word or phrase they're muting, but the sound remains off much longer....oh, they're just not much good at it I feel...

....and it is infuriating when they have the sound on someones mic high while they're doing the washing up or something drowning out an interesting converstaion going on behind them...why on earth would anyone want to hear the sound of running water? Or why do they have someones mic high when they're just mumbling a tune over the top of other people talking?

Lazy, lazy, lazy....or unskilled....or deliberately bad...or has someone got a better explanation?
