Arena performance when it gets to the final stage

when it gets down to the final round the contestants should have to perform in an arena like manchester

They did on Pop Idol. On the first series the final three went on stage before an S Club 7 gig in Ireland, and it worked really well. On the second series they had a slot in the Christmas at Popworld concert, but that appeared to be brushed under the carpet, and most comments I heard were that they were 'good', but didn't manage to hold the attention of the crowd.

I think the final is being held at the Royal Albert Hall on December 24th.

i can imagin the second series wasn't worth the effort

but what i mean is say pop idol 3 instead of going live in the studio they book out manchester arena and sell tickets like five do for the games

I dont think there is going to be any more Pop Idol.

No, me neither. I think concentration is on The X Factor now, it's larger than Idol. 75,000 applicants (open to all) compared 20,000 (open to 16-24) hmmm.

Exactly. And I read something in the TV Times top 50 programme nominations and it said Pop Idol ran from 2001-2003 which implied it wont be back. Its had its day and the X Factor is here now.
