The prize money
Taras

I know this has been said before but the prize money is so low compared to other reality programs that in all honesty the only reason to go on future BBs is to be pampered for 10 weeks..

If the money was £1million - you`d see more backstabbing, bitching etc with out any help from the producers.... Plus you wouldn`t get the "BB psudo celebs"

I think something like for every week you stayed in BB you got £10,000 put in your kitty so that the last 3 would have £100,000 each and plus add in various twists... Youd have much more excitement.....

I agree wholeheartedly. With £70k for the winner and nothing except a chance at fleeting fame for the losers the only people who apply do it for the fame. If they offered a decent life changing amount of money it would raise the ante not only for the contestants but for the viewers too. They would also attract a wider array of applicants. As it stands most of the housemates have had to leave their jobs or take unpaid leave from considerate employers, that's a huge gamble for minimal reward. Last year it may have been understandable, to earn the £1m on Survivor you had to spend 30 odd days in uncomfortable conditions, living on basic rations, sometimes being followed by a camera crew, on Big Brother all you had to do was sunbathe in Bow for a maximum of 64 days and entertain the public to claim your prize. With the introduction of boredom as a spur to interaction and the possibillity of spending most of your time confined to the poor house, £70k looks like an insult.

yeah things like if you got a strike u loose some of the money or allowing other hms getting some of your money by backstabbing etc.....

Much much more fun...... than some glass bars.....

I think it would be funny if when the winner came out, they said 'sorry, but we had to cut costs cos the bars cost so much, so heres a fiver!'

the prize money is lower, however on big brother, you are locked in the house, and looked after. On the likes of survivor you look after yourself - there are no weekly shopping budgets, comfy sofas or even the "basic" conditions of the poor side of the house" so i think £70,000 is all they deserve.

Let's face it, most of 'em aren't in it for the money, it's the fame they're after.
Anyway, half of them will make more than 70k out of it when they get out by way of guest appearances / job offers etc.

And with any luck, sink straight back into obscurity. As we have seen with the previous housemates, you can only dine out on the story for so long....... But it will be a great tale for the grandchildren.

I think the real point is that the producers want people in there for the experience and not just for the money, fair enough really.

I could see them putting the prize up to maybe £100k, but I don't think it needs to go higher than that. It may seem 'small' compared to Survivor, but £70k is still a hell of a lot of money. Also they are looked after, and they are going to get money out of interviews/appearances etc after the show.

Plus, like Paul Bland said, they're wanting people there for the experience more than the money. Some of the contestants say that too.

I'd like to do the BB thing without the money (though I admit I'd keep it if I won), and certainly without the fame bit afterwards...the experience would be facinating...to see yourself as other see you? I'm sure it would be an unpleasant experience, but imagine how much you could grow as a person?

Imagine the fun you could have in the house messing with the heads of the other housemates? I'd love to try and pretend a break down and sit in the corner or something looking at people and giggling to myself...

Then get called to the diary room to see if your OK and act normal and let people on the outside know you're just messing about...

...who say's I'm sad? I don't care, you're all out to get me anyway, don't think I don't know that!...

I'd like to have the experience of it, and it could certainly be fun <evil grin>

I wouldn't even be that bothered about the money - but lke you say I wouldn't say no if I won!

Survivor was for a million but there was not that much back stabbing in that.

BB costs are huge when you look at the price of building the house from scratch etc.......
