Alphabetical discrimination
Dr Who
17-06-2002
Why are nominations announced in alphabetical order?

It's not fair on those with names in the lower half of alphabet as they suffer when nominations are announced as there is always a long pause between the first name and the second. As an example, "this weeks nominations are....... Alex..." at this point Adele would know she has not been nominated and can relax. If the first nomination were Sophie , then we would know straight away the other one was Spencer.

It would be better if nominations were announced at random.

That's far too clever for BB. Go and comment about another show, where the staff might understand !

Why isn't it fair? It's supposed to create tension, isn't it? After all, one of them will be out in four days time...

I think the Good Doctor is saying that it singularly REMOVES tension (that is assuming the HMs understand the alphabet!!)
and he is correct.

That's exactly my point. If the names are announced in alphabetical order after the first name some of the HMs will usually know they are not up for nomination. Better still, the first nomination is xxxxx, we'll be back after the break with the second nomination

In addition if three are up you don't telll them, announce the second, they get all excite then the magic words,.. and this week there are three nomination, watch the faces drop.

better yet, don't even tell them until Friday night... sorry just got off a very hot and sweaty train, and I don't feel like being nice to 9 folks who just lazed in a garden all day.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that's a good idea. What I'd actually like to see them do is on the 8.30 show on Friday tell them who is up for eviction and that the public's been voting. Then at 10.00 have them all packed and ready to leave. Let Davina announce straight away who is going, give them a minute to say their goodbyes and then get them out.

Jack - has the forum driven you to drink? lol...

Say for instance Sophie and Alex were up for eviction. I think Big Brother should say, 'The people up for eviction this week are.....Sophie (We see Spencer looking very unhappy).....and......alex (total shock!)

or they could announce 2 people on tuesday, and then surprise them by announcing the 3rd person on wednesday (providing there is a 3rd person)

no they wouldn't, we'd still get to vote them all week, but the housemates wouldn't know about it.

now that's a good idea. Maybe the BB producers should read these forums for ideas for the next series (if they have one after all this!)
