Abc1 was billed as a VARIETY of entertainment but as the year has gone on everything that isn't comedy has been removed from the schedule. It may as well be called abc comedy - it needs to re-focus and get some decent drama if it wants to be a true all round entertainment channel.

We need GH, All My Children and One Life to Live to provide ORIGINAL 'All New' entertainment on a daily basis, otherwise I for one just won't be able to watch any more as I've seen all the other shows about 10 times!

What are you doing abc1??? The ratings for GH are picking up again now those ridiculous ads in the restaurant and shop have stopped airing!

This is dreadful news. General Hospital is my favourite current show. You just can't compare GH to Emmerdale, Corrie etc. Just when we thought things were getting good, with abc1 being on Sky now. Just what is the point of abc1, as I don't get it. Without General Hospital, they are nothing

I agree this is awful. GH is my favourite show that airs on UK TV. I will never watch ABC1 again once it finishes.

Well im glad i stopped watching a few weeks ago then!
But i do think this is a stupid decision. abc1 has only just launched on Sky, giving them a further 7-8 million potential viewers, so why can they just not give it a chance?

Well if ABC1 launches properly soon we will have a few weeks to get tuned into GH and prove to ABC1 that it is worth keeping. Surely they can change their minds if they see it picking up. Just a thought.
Shame on you ABC1

I feel REALLY bad for ALL you GH fans, I know for a fact that I would have loved it since day 1 cos it's a US Soap but unfortunately I don't have access to ABC1 cos I've only got Sky Diggie. I agree with all you guys that it's a stupid decision for ABC1 to pull the plug now of all times since the viewing figures have began to increase especially with students being on Summer holidays from college/school/uni. This decision will cost them big-time, a channel's main priority is to keep its audience happy & this is anything but. Have you guys contacted ABC1 to urge them to reconsider their decision in axing GH? We ALL know just how bad it feels when a UK channel cancels a US Soap, first B&B/Melrose Place & now GH. These trashy UK channels don't realise the true potential of US Soaps. Unless FIVE come to their senses & realise just how popular/successful Sunset Beach is with its current/possibly new viewers, we might have to bid farewell to that too on Sun 16th Jul '06. But I truely hope that Sunset Beach heads into Seasons 2/3 from epi 260 otherwise we won't have ANY US Soaps in the UK.

As far as I know it isn't on Sky Diggie, that's why I'm so depressed on having missed out. I love US Soaps & GH seems like a great show.

This is so depressing. It was just about to get amazing. Faith kidnapping Sonny's children, the breakdown of Ric and Alexis' marriage, the arrival of Rachel and that storyline, NuNuCarly, Liz and Lucky, Emily's rape, etc.

Gutted. Why do US soaps never work here? They could at least put it on at 6am because I'm sure nobody watches the 6-7am hour.

They always end up axing General Hospital for some reason. I can remember watching it years ago.

After just reading the news on DS about abc1's launch on Sky, and the fact abc1 will now be broadcasting 24 hours a day on cable & sky, i have to say that it is even more cruel of them to axe GH!
What else are they going to fill up 24 hours with? Endless repeats of the shows they have already shown millions of times already. I can actually see them playing everything they show at 6am-6pm again at 6pm-6am so they do a loop of 12 hours.

It's a shame they could have made a major event out of the soaps.

They should make ABC1 more and more like ABC US now that it is 24 hours. (even if it is acrchive programming)

I'd like to see somethign like this:

7:00am Home Improvement
7:30am Ellen
8:00am Mad About You
8:30am The Geena Davis Show
9:00am Wheel of Fortune
10:00am Rodney (previous days show)
10:30am Sports Night (previous days show)
11:00pm Less Than Perfect (previous days show)
11:30pm Hope & Faith (previous days show)
12:00pm Millionaire
1:00pm All My Children
2:00pm One Life to Live
3:00pm General Hospital
4:00pm The Oprah Winfrey Show
5:00pm 8 Simple Rules (previous days show)
5.30pm Scrubs (previous days show)
6:00pm Millionaire
7:00pm Hope & Faith
7:30pm Less Than Perfect
8:00pm 8 Simple Rules
8:30pm Scrubs
9:00pm Jake In Progress
10:00pm Kevin Hill
11:00pm Sports Night
11:30pm Rodney
12:00am Jimmy Kimmel
1:00am America's Funniest Home Videos
2:00am The Oprah Winfrey Show (previous days show)
3:00am General Hospital (previous days show)
4:00am One Life To Live (previous days show)
5:00am All My Children (previous days show)
6:00am Wheel Of Fortune

Whilst trying to be realistic and not choosing shows that other channels hold the rights to, or if they do they will hold the Pay-TV rights and not care about not having the FTA rights like Challenge with Millionaire US.

ABC1 launched on Sky, channel 281, about an hour ago, for anyone who's interested.

I've just called them saying how bad it is that they have now axed the soap.
When it goes 24 hours I can hope that they will atleast show it sometime even if it's at 6am!

All phone them now, leaving your message and e-mail address, on: 020 8222 2489
Alternativly, speak to them live from 2pm.
