Does anyone know why spencer is strangly so popular? He never does anything. He's in bed most of the day and awake most of the night. When he is awake with everyone else he is usually isolated fromt hem. He is a bore and brings nothing to the house- why does everyone love him and why is he winning the opinion polls on the channel 4 website? Please, everyoneone, call [admin edit] as much as your wallet will allow! We can't keep this boring arse in!

All these "Anti-Spencer" threads are becoming extremely boring, it's gonna be hillarious on these forums when Alex get's kicked out on Friday

I thought eviction phone number's were banned on this forum ?

I know alex will leave, but it's only becaus of spencer's Mysterious popularituy. He has 1 strike, lets hope he gets 2 more then we won't have to do owt to lose him.

Spencer has hardly said a bad word about anyone and certainly very few in other than a joking manner. Alex is a pathetic specimen of a human being who can't live with others unless they live by his rules. Spencer has shown that he is a totally cool dude who can live with other people's failings and get on with his own business before worrying about that of the others.

Spencer's also had to endure more hardship than Alex, which puts him at a disadvantage, but he's come through with shining colours.

I'd go so far as to say that Spencer is the only housemate that comes near to being a decent person (Tim excepted - haven't had chance to suss him properly yet although it doesn't look good so far). All the rest are a bunch of deceptive losers who are conning themselves if they think the public can't see through them - HOW STUPID THEY ARE!

Spencer's not particularly winning so much, it's that the others are losing.

Spencer has a decent sense of humour (though some of the HM's don't seem to get it), he's not into bitching, or backstabbing. He DOES do his fair share in there, admittedly he sleeps during the day a lot more than the rest, but he sees to the fire and bakes the bread on the poor side, and he's quite entertaining later at night, maybe he's just a night person. I know I was at that age.

So he's laid back, and doesn't make too much of a stress of his life. He's got the right idea I think, he's young and is enjoying himself.

I'd rather see Alex go than Spencer, but tbh I would rather that neither had to leave this early on, since Alex is quite entertaining in his own slightly odd obsessive way.

Basically what your saying is because he has done absolutely nothing (except sleep) he is top of your popularity chart.

I think he may be a nice bloke but dull a dishwater. I watch BB to be entertained / amused.

Yep, I can see the funny side of the way Alex talks to himself, etc.

But ... he just cannot live amongst others and accept that evryone ldoes their own thing.

Spencer is the JACK DEE of BB3 - he has that playful "couldn't give a damn what they think" attitude that appeals to many - hence the strike he's received.

Life is about doing your own thing and the likes of Alex would have us all live in an "ALEX" world - YUCK!

If you're watching BB simply for amusement/entertainment then I'm surprised you're still watching it.

The real interest for me is the intrigue and mystery of watching how all the attributes of human nature come out in these confined and restricted circumstances.

It's good versus evil. It's the adult version of "Lord of the Flies".

Who do you place into what categories?

Who will the public see through?

Who will the public support?

All this is what keeps me intrigued enough to continue watching, not some wussy pancing around dictating how they should behave.

BB is there to do that, but only to maintain some semblance of law & order. Boy it would be so much more interesting if BB wasn't there, other than to film that is.

Two points:

This rebelling against BB, ' stuff your rules ' (yawn) is deceptively cool, and EASY to do.

I actually think it's evidence of stronger character to rebel against your housemates, to stand up for what you believe in to your evident cost in the game.

Alex's so-called ' rules' are just common decency. If people like Spencer could be as dirty as they liked and not bother me it'd be fine. However, Spencer is imposing his smell on everyone else.
I can speak from personal experience in a way because my brother is like Spencer, it's horrible to live with.

His reaction on Saturday, the disgustingly infantile comments about the girls and Alex, which he meant. have sealed it for me.

As you have stated above this is what makes it entertaining / amusing to watch.

In the first week I totally hated Alex because of his moaning etc. but as the weeks have progressed I felt his character was more interesting to watch. He has formed a fairly close bond with Adele so there is some intrigue there.

Spencer, hey I don't hate the guy. In fact since Saturday when they introduced the musical instruments and he was able to show of his talents he has grown on me.

I think it will be a sad day on Friday when one of them has to leave and it could make the show less interesting to watch.

I think both of them have massive public support and this may be born out in the amount of votes cast this week, and the number of posts on DS today.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alex just can't live with others "in general" - he's the selective type and shouldn't have applied if he can't hack it with what is obviously never going to be to anyone's total satisfaction.

He's a moaner!

Do you honestly think Spencer (or any of the others) like living with other peoples idiosyncracies - we all have faults - THAT'S LIFE!

The true test of character of a person is someone that can live with other peoples failings and just get on with their own business without constantly moaning. He's full of negativity.

We'll just have to disagree about what constitutes character then.

As to negativity, I suppose Spencer is a ray of subshine.

I don't think it is fair so say that Alex can't hack being in the house. Despite his views, I think recently he has relaxed a bit and tried to fit in.

I think what attracts many people to Spencer is that he is a bit of a rebel but clearly this has not helped him get on in life. I think pushing a boat around all day does not have great career prospects. Spencer is clearly intelligent but one day he will have to confrom to the norm.

Get a stable job, get married, have kids, keep clean.

We were all young once you know !! OK some people never grow up but most of us do.

I reckon spencer is playing the game. He is playing it well too.
He appears very laid back but I believe that he has bitten his tongue on many occasions. He is a typical lad who in the real world would tell people like Jade and Alex to piss off and would have no time for the likes of some of the others. His way of dealing with the people in the house he does not particlaly like is to have as little to do with them as possible apart from occasional sarcastic comments. He is keeping his gob shut for a reason.I dont believe he is as laid back as he seems.I may be wrong though.
Remember the expression on his face when he went in the house, that was put on too. I think.
The girls love him coz they think he is what he seems to be in there, hes playing a role.
paulh0202

You're missing the point - Spencer is doing his own thing.

Conformity is living by the laws of the land, not having to follow the "norm". His way of life isn't imposing any problems on others.

In this "game" they all knew that they were going to be living closely in the same house as 11 others, most of whom wouldn't "conform" to their ways.

He is what he is and no-one's going to push him their way - good for him. Go Spencer, you do the Spencer thing.

Alex is a moaner through and through and if you find that normal or entertaining, well ....... say no more.

Spencer is the darling of Heat magazine...
Their cover this week advertises "big brother's 19 sauciest moments! (and yes there's lots of Spencer!)"

I reckon Spencer has a very organised publicity machine working for him, Alex clearly doesn't.

This echos my sentiments exactly.

I will be disappointed not to be able to follow up this relationship which seems to be developing

Far more interesting than listening to Spencer making crass remarks and homophobic comments and etchings

Good point Jack, I guess this thread would fall of the bottom as no-one has actually come up with any really positive answers.

On a positive note, it been a nice day in Devon. (sorry nothing to say about spencer so had to resort to the weather)
paulh0202

And just how the heck is Spencer (or any of the others condemned to hell for a week) going to be able to join in with that one.

I for one think the bars have got rid of the "level playing field" conditions and "contaminated" the game.

Alex also has his own little game plan, like keeping the rest of the guys on the "other side" so that he can promote his own popularity without any challenge. It's the only way he can think of to try and get his personality to the forefront.

Alex is a WUSS! He's a pathetic example for us blokes. I agree with the post on one of the other threads that describes him as "self-pitying". Fancy sitting there winging and crying to himself. If that's not publicity-grabbing trickery it's pitiful. Mind you, ask yourself - what sort of blokes can relate to that?

He's not fit to be called a bloke .... so we'll continue to refer to him as a girlie or a wuss.
