I adore Cyndi Lauper. It's a shame that she fell out of favour after her second album as she was huge at one point. "Sisters of Avalon" and "Bring Ya to the Brink" are two great albums that deserved to have done a lot better than what they did. I'll go as far as saying that the latter is better than Madonna's "Confessions". She can do so many different styles and has always taken risks and tried different things in her career. She doesn't get nearly as much praise and recognition as she deserves. There's so much more to her than just her 1980s hits.

Oh Bring Ya To The Brink on blast again today!! Raging Storm is such a beautiful song!

Remember memories of summer 2008...Hard Candy, Brink and Viva La Vida on circulation on my CD player Immense albums!

Love the Lauper so much! I hope she makes another Pop/Rock influenced album next!

It still baffles me to this day how on earth BYTTB failed to chart in the top 10

Loves me some Cyndi. Brilliant live too. Favourite song changes all the time but right now it's probably fearless.

I agree, she is amazing live! Caught her a few years back in a rare performance in Dublin promoting Bring Ya To The Brink! I got really excited as she sang Goonies R Good Enough which she has stated in the past that she hates - that's why it never made it onto 12 Deadly Cyns

I went on the memphis blues tour. Didn't like the album but it came alive in the show. Brilliant. Woman has charisma in buckets and has such a great connection to the audience. She never shuts up. and tells so many stories.

what i found absurd with the Bring Ya To The Brink campaign is....she promoted the album in the UK for well over a week...live concerts....Norton, Loose Women, Paul O grady, Jools Holland (i think) and the album didnt chart at all! or at least so so so far away from the top 40....really gutting for her tbh and also one of my favourite albums of 2008 too!

Wonder where she may head next tbh....

Yeah if you look at this, there's no entry for Bring Ya To The Brink http://chartarchive.org/a/cyndi+lauper

Im always surprised at how well A Night To Remember did in the UK...i mean its her biggest selling studio album in the UK too isnt it. Besides her Hits and The Some album its the only other one that at least went platinum i think too.

Most unusual....shes so unusual hehe.

Bring ya to the brink was and still is massively underrated. Like Britney and Kylie, Cyndi was doing the dance trend way long before it became the trend of today.

I love Lay Me Down from BYTTB - reminds me of Robyn's Every Heartbeat, but I think Cyndi did actually work with Kleerup on this particular one

it is strange the evolution of Dance music within Pop Music tbh....i mean it was all very underground and a lot more interesting before the sudden 2009/10 resurgence and watered down/reductive feel behind it all tbh

Bring Ya To The Brink really did evoke so much of Underground/Dance musics past it was kinda like her own Confessions On A Dance Floor in some respects and reminds me of Robyn too in others. Also unusual is Robyn and Kelis released phenomenal Dance themed albums in 2010 but were overlooked in favor of....well that particular Electropop trend -_-

I really honesty thought BYTTB was to be her big comeback album.

What's interesting though is that stateside, Memphis Blues was a runaway success, spending countless weeks at number 1 on the Blues charts. However, personally, it's my least favourite Cyndi album.

I also love BYTTB. It was inspired by her gay fans and demonstrated the heart she puts into her amazing work against homophobia. She chose some unusual single choices and no doubt people were confused by this new Cyndi. I love looking at the vids on youtube - she is truly unique. She was too talented to be promoting on the likes of Paul o'grady. I just wish younger gay people knew what she's doing for them and supported her instead of taking their tops off and snorting ketamine in Fire

Wish she had released Echo, Lay Me Down and Grab A Hold

I like Cyndi ! Not just her voice and songs, but as a person she just seems so....likeable.

The World Is Stone remains my fav Cyndi track. I knew three or four of her earlier hits, but the World Is Stone cassette single , lead me to work my way backwards, buying her cassette albums.

I love She's So Unusual, True Colors, Night To Remember, and Hat Full of Stars. I've since re-bought those on cd (except for ...Unusual).

Wasn't impressed with Sisters of Avalon at all. Not that it's bad or anything. I just look at the tracklisting and can't hum any of the tracks. And when it's playing, it just becomes background music.

At Last - I'm glad I have it, but don't listen to it much. I do like ol' classics but I have to be in a certain mood for them. And when I am in that kinda mood, I forget that Cyndi has an album of that sound.

I didn't think I'd buy another Cyndi album. I thought the first 4 were enough for me.
So, Bring Ya To The Brink was a huge surprise. It's right up there with the best of 'em. Wonderful !

I didn't buy Body Acoustic or Memphis Blues. I think if I had them, they'd only sit there on the shelf, having been played a few times, so there's no point.

the SHINE album arrived! Finally bought it...was over £20 but i imported it from Japan...arrived in just over a week so pretty good...and well worth it, this album is just EXCELLENT and finally i can hear the full thing through my speakers rather than just on you tube

have to say it is an album that is definitely up there with her best Thus far i shall rank them

1. Bring Ya To The Brink
2. Hat Full Of Stars
3. Shine
4. Sisters of Avalon
5. Shes So Unusual
6. A Night To Remember
7. True Colours
8. The Body Acoustic
9. At Last
10. Merry Christmas Have A Nice Life
11. Memphis Blues

Also....the packaging looks great for the SSU re-release...but i dont think i shall buy into it...i like the album but i already have it

Also...loving the announcement she made recently that she is and ahs been working on new material for an album (maybe due out for 2015!!) very exciting....new Madonna on the way, New grace Jones, new Blondie, Kate Bush is touring this summer now we have Cyndi on the way...all my favourite ladies of music are really crackinv the whip...cannot wait Just wonder which direction Cyn will head in...plus she looks great ...cant believe she will be 61 soon!
