If the rumours about OB and Zara going are true then that's a big mistake. They're both well-established and popular characters. It would be wrong to get rid of them after so long.

I do hope Lee isn't leaving, that would be a great shame, he's probably the best actor they've got.

Not too fussed about Darren, The Owens and the twins but it will be sad when the twins go, I was finally warming to them.

I've heard he's joining the T4 team which is why he's being doing a few slots over the summer.

Although Ben & Lisa are to do a spin off show I didn't know they had been confirmed to leave - although they annoy me he is surely one of the more popular characters.

The producers seem reluctant to give anyone a real shot for longer than 2 mins. Nobody seems to know what is going on. Abbey Davies was supposed to be returning permantly she hasn't. Also Ben's fireman friend Calum introduced as a new character axed and not seen for 6 months then reinstated for a random episode in the fire station.

I usually watch Hollyoaks but have been annoyed at the traveller story so stopped watching it for a bit so could someone please tell me why is Richard having an affair and who with?

I cannot stand trampy Lisa so I am glad she is going but I quite like Lenny, Justin, sad to see Ali go, and do not mind the twins but Zara has to go!

Ben is one of the better characters in my opinion, one of the funnier ones too. I'd rather they didn't get rid of him, but I can't stand Lisa. Why not split them up - with Ben finally realising how selfish and pathetic she is. Then Lisa leaves because life is being soooo unfair to her?

IMO, Ben and Lisa have both run their course, as individual characters and as a couple. They are so damn boring. They just argue all the time, and Lisa is a potential bunny boiler in the making....they waste airtime which can be spent on developing other characters!

I mean...the whole Tony and Mandy.pregnancy/travellers...zzzzzzzz.......how DULL! I used to love H/Oaks, and it's one saving grace right now is Justin.

Craig is also a good character, let's hope the storyline they *might* have in the pipeline for him is tru - at least give him something to get his teeth into.

So that's what happened to him, and then the actor turned up in a Cheeky Girls video The students they randomly bring in to bump up the cast are never good. Well I lie the original ones were - Anna, Alex, Geri, Guy from 'Out of Tune' and other girl he ran off with [EDIT] - Just remembered her name Nikki. I liked them but they were new so it meant the storylines hadn't been done 5000 times.

I want the days of Jambo, Dawn, Kurt, Jude, Ruth etc back. WHen Tony and Mandy weren't annoying and had decent story lines. When it was only twice a week and didn't have these random characters with no characterization in it. Then they wouldn't have to have big culls of characters.

At the moment the students are pretty pointless as none of them actually do anything apart from comedy B plots. I reckon Hollyoaks should just keep it based on the families. All the characters like Jez, Zara,Cameron, Joe, Dannii, Louise etc. who don't really belong to any family should be ditched. That way there would be less cast and more time spent on the better characters who are under-used like for example Steph.

Awww I <3 Ben, Thank god Justin isn't on the hit list. I hope Zara doesn't go, she's been on 'Oaks for aaages!

I don't think the producers would be stupid enough to ditch Justin. They must know he is very popular and they clearly see that he is a great actor because they have used him in practically every main storyline this year minus the stuff with little Tom and the Lisa/Ben thing.

Oh I agree, Hollyoaks 1999-2000 was its best period IMO. I loved the students at this time - Sam, Nikki, Geri, Anna etc.

i agree, steph is under-used. she was brill in that late night one where she was acting, cant remember what is was called though

I was thinking maybe it would be better if they just focused on say 10 characters and we saw every story from their point of view. That way the characters would be richer and they would maybe stop having silly storylines just to justify the other characters being there. They more or less do that already anyway so it wouldn't be that big of a change.

They should mainly focus on Mandy, Tony, Max, Becca, Jake, Justin, Darlene, Craig, Steph, Darren and Lee. Oh and Ben whilst he is still there.

Oh and Sam Owen.

I agree, I was annoyed when they decided to change the college from being an A-Level/sixth form college, to a degree type of college, but the storylines of Alex, Anna, Geri et al were better. Particularly, when Anna became pregnant and Alex denied that he was the father, then everyone believed Ben to be the dad of the baby. I especially enjoyed the scenes where Anna went into labour and Ben, Max and some other male character were estatic when she and the baby was alright, I thought that was a lovely scene. I think I remember too much stuff !!, but I do think Hollyoaks was better back then..
