Corrie - Sunday 28th August
Its Les’s 50th birthday but his day gets off to a bad start when a stony faced Cilla informs him that she hasn’t got him a birthday present or card because he still has not bought her an engagement ring. Determined to placate his fiancée, Les sets about trying to raise the cash needed to buy Cilla the ring of her dreams. He approaches some of Weatherfield’s well-heeled residents hoping for a loan but his pleas fall on deaf ears. It looks like it’s going to be a 50th birthday to forget unless unlucky Les can raise the cash for Cilla’s sparkler.
Elsewhere, feeling more confident due to Zack’s counseling and her recent engagement, a determined Shelley decides she can put it off no longer and heads down to the bar area to open up her pub. The staff and regulars of the Rovers are surprised but pleased to see Shelley back where she rightly belongs. Is Shelley emotionally ready to begin her duties back behind the bar? How will she cope? Meanwhile, when Craig refuses to accompany his grandfather Keith on a fishing trip, he decides to ask Audrey to go along with him instead. Keith is delighted when she accepts his offer of a day out but how will she react when she discovers Keith’s plans. Is the smitten fisherman angling to make Audrey his catch of the day? Also in Weatherfield, when Adam rolls up on the street in a swanky new car, a shallow Candice suddenly regains interest in him, and Gail attempts to make amends for her recent behaviour when she asks Phil out for a meal. Discuss tonight's hour-long ep here.

First half hour were crap and don't look like owt's going to happen in't second half either... and am I the only one that'd take a great delight in wrapping a shovel around the back of Candice's malformed cranium? The bint.

There's nothing wrong with Shelley's "agorophobia" (except it isn't quite, and people often live with this for years if not all their lives, not a few months), but what IS really annoying is how they've made the character turn stupid and pathetic, oblivious to Charlie being a ****. It's dire.

Continuity error?
Mike and Adam had parked the car outside Ken's house and then go in the pub. Audrey and Keith come back and the car has gone - Adam still in the pub. Or has it been stolen already? It wouldn't surprise me...considering the likes of Yana walking down the street... ![]() The second ep was better than the first IMO... |

What's dire about this storyline is how long it has gone on, it is perfectly realistic, well written and more often than not finely acted IMO! |

Thought tonight's episodes were mediocre.
Les and Cilla were also way too pantomime. However, Yana was great, as always. |

Tonights episodes were both good, but I agree the 2nd was better than the first.
Nice to see Shelly back behind the bar. |

Keith and Audrey was fine, as was the Adam/Mike/Ken scenes and Norris/Sean and the Shelley bits (for a change) but the rest was a bit poor. Especially Les, Cilla and Yana which is always unrealistic and over the top which makes it unfunny.

I think the acting is passable at best, and I don't think it's entirely realistic, because it starts and is over all too quickly in terms of realism. However I don't blame Corrie for that, you can't drag it on for years, can you. The best way to handle these storylines is to bring in a new character who has had a phobia/psychological problems for years beforehand. |

Totally bored of the whole "shallow Candice" thing. I can see we are going to have a repeat of the whole Candice/Warren thing with Candice fancying herself as some kind of it girl.
Glad Shelley was behind the bar tonight, made it feel like this storyline is moving on a bit. Keith and Audrey are good I think. Like how Audrey wants to do things that will cost money and Keith is the opposite ![]() Loved the bit at the end where Les proposed to Cilla, did you see Violet, she looked like she was going to throw up lol. |

Keith has improved since getting together with Audrey. Not enough yet though.

It was not goopd and I was glad when it was over. The highlight for me was the conversation between Sean and Norris.
All the scenes with the trully awful Les Battersby were really terrible. This is not the humour for Corrie. If Adam and his 'second hand car' Looks like his first car wasn't even insured. Last edited by SULLA : 28-08-2005 at 21:29. |

Adam got well ripped off paying four hundred and fifty quid for an E registered car at an auction.
I liked Audrey's fishing trip when she wanted to cook and eat a tiddler. I didn't see Sean's joke coming about Shakespeare. Cilla and Les:bin them both. Don't like the way Charlie keeps hanging round Shelley behind the bar. He's no right being there. Fred should see him off. |

I think Corrie desperately needs a storyline that involves getting rid of Les, Cilla and Yana!
I personally don't find mugging and shouting amusing in the slightest and that seems to be all that trio can do. |
