In the centre of a built up area of East London where no one has a garden is LA La Land. Here people tend plots of land and grow lushous crops. This oasis has no security, anyone can wander in at will. Apart from the crops there are fully equipped sheds with all manner of gardening tools, chairs and kettles. You don`t even have to tend your plot if you don`t want to, no one has touched Arthur`s for years but the council don`t mind and the hard working gardeners don`t complain about all the weeds. No one steals the crops, vandalises the sheds, uses them as drug dens or even for teenage orgies.
How green with envy are those of us who have to secure our back gardens.
Beats everyone using the launderette.

Arthur's allotment has been kept in use since he died - Mark took control after Arthur's death, and when Mark left, Derek took over. Recently since Derek left, Arthur's patch became concern of the council, who wrote to Pauline - thats why she asked Charlie to look after it, and I assume in the long run,her new boyfriend will do it.

The Allotment has seen vandalism & crops have been tampered with/stolen, like Arthur's marrows & the time the word THIEF was written over Arthur's shed, for example. And teenage naughtiness has gone on....Martin used it a few times for lust, and not exactly teenage, but Arthur & Mrs Hewitt spent many a cosy moment in his shed

There is a security fence around the allotment too - this is actually the security fence protecting the EE outdoor lot from the real world, but in the show,it's the allotment fence!

Bronze Bully, I forgot about the security fence keeping people in AS. I image it to be invisible like the security line that stops people from taking shopping trolleys out of our new Asda`s car park. Mind that would need the people to be tagged in some way. Perhaps there`s a secret ingredient in the washing powder that Pauline and Dot use. People in AS aren`t allowed washing machines and have to use the launderette for this reason.
