Corrie Last Night: Rubbish!
I watched Corrie when it was repeated at Midnight and it was completely laughable! And when I mean laughable I'm not talking about the 'comedy' storylines in the episode.
It was probably the WORST episode of a soap I have EVER seen... even worse than any I watched during EE's rough patch. There was not one serious storyline I know it can't be dramatic every night but they need a good balance of humour and drama in each episode. In fact I didnt even see much humour in those two episodes. Claire deciding to help save the park... yawn... Janice getting nits.... who cares? Well I think you've got the point now... IMO it was a poor excuse for an episode (well two) from the nation's 'number one soap'. |

I'm pretty sure there are at least two other threads on last night's Corrie - so was it really necessary to start a new thread over this?

Yes because I knew I would get flamed if I dared post in one of the other threads full of the Corrie fans!

Whilst trying to be funny,to me C.St. misses the target almost every time.
Its sad to see a once superb soap with marvellous actors/actresses brought so low.

I think a lot of times people think Corrie is tryig to be funny when its not. They just expect everything to be a comedy story. IMO the Claire storyline isn't a comedy one, but one about help and the community.
I'd also say Corrie has several layers of comedy, its not as if we still don;t have clever throw away lines like Blanche, Norris, even Bev and Liz about Bob a couple of weeks back |

Every time Clare comes on I start yawning, the nits storyline was also pointless. PLease Corrie get back to some decent storylines with the more established cast

I hope it was just a one-off- it seems it is as Sunday's episode was quite good, and although Cilla and Les aren't exactly the most likeable characters it was touching at the end when he finally presented her with a ring.
But on the other hand last night could have been the beginning of the bad patch for Corrie, as this isn't the first time in the last few weeks that a Corrie episode has failed to deliver... |

The OP is right it is laughable because it is now so rubbish and after all the hard work of last year you would think it was a different soap the quality has dipped so low. |

The one really bad thing for me is they're tampering with Gail a lot and I don't like to see that. She's an established character who has been there for years and I don't like what they're doing with her. The established cast members should never be involved in any of the panto storylines because it damages them, the panto stuff should only be given to characters who have been there less than 5 years IMHO.

I missed the ITV slot so decided to catch it on ITV2 last night. How long has there been an audio describer with the repeat showing? It was the first time I had ever heard it.

It is such a shame what has happened to Corrie. They have ruined great characters like Shelly, who was once a bubbly, confident character and reduced her to a divering wreck. I hope the producers do the right thing and have Shelly FINALLY dump Charlie at their wedding because the whole story is just tiresome now. And if they insist on doing all these 'comedy' storylines... they could at least try and make them funny. |

Stopped watching Corrie for the 3 months that BB was on. Went back to it last week and the Shelley storyline hadn't moved on much at all in the 3 months, so was able to follow it no problem! Totally agree that last nights episodes were absolute rubbish. Janice's acting isn't that great at the best of times but in last night's episodes she was absolutely dire - from her over-reaction and over-acting in the football scene to the drunken scene where she got her hair shaved. The producers also need to get rid of the two black girls. They are simply not funny and do not add anything to the programme and as for the earlier storyline that they think they are identical twins?? I also think that the scriptwriters are turning Claire into a character to be laughed at and not with.
Something else I noticed last night. Why are all the women dressed in skirts no longer than a pelmet? |

I know I noticed that too when I heard 'Deidre wearing old glasses.' At first I thought it was some weird episode where they we could hear what Bev was thinking or something lol!

What apparent panto stuff is Gail doing at the moment. She's arguning in the Rovers which isn't exactly panto stuff. I find it difficult to believe that people are simply applying one thick brush over the whole of Corrie. There are many different stories going on. Last nights also involved quite an empassioned speech from Lloyd about not being taken seriously as a boss. No-one mentions this...
Don't say that no-one takes it serously anymore, its not true. Don't say it is 30 mins of panto humour its not (and no jokes about it only being 23 mins long ). Don't get all vitriolic just because Eastenders had a massive storyline episode and Corrie had one about nits and gardening. Try to get a grip

This is what I tell myself when I'm having a "Corrie isn't as good as it used to be" moment. Also I find that all soaps go through phases of being a bit dull. Corrie always manages to pull itself back up. |

The audio would sometimes go ahead of itself, so you knew what was coming up and at other times, it didn't sound at all right, as it was all said in the same breath. Now I know they are doing that, it won't sound as bad as it did last night.

Oh come on now, theres bad and really bad.
I saw the episode last night but it wasnt a patch on the crap dished up in Eastenders. the bit from the shining when Sam opened the door (STOP) my sides are hurting. someones getting married lets throw a street party, I lived in Hackney in the East end of London for 21 years, guess how many street parties I saw? yep you guessed it NONE,oh and it was all arranged over the weekend, Sam managed to dig up the concrete floor in under 5 minutes, the whole thing about Eastenders is that its just not believable EVER where as corrie is. IMHO |
