Anyone get the feeling this has happened before? I swear there was another time when Bob came back from Holiday without Viv for a similar reason. Can anyone confirm whether Im right or barking up the wrong tree.

The previous time Viv had come down with some tropical disease, yellow fever or something.

You could see it coming a mile off that there would be some reason Bob and Viv wouldn't return together. Would have been more unexpected if they had returned together They could have secretly married whilst on holiday. Incidently did anyone else think the holiday was incredibly short? I swear it must have been a day trip or something

It was a week... I think doing this is the only way for Viv to plausibly leave the village for awhile, so Deena Pyane can get some holiday time. She is one of the shows central characters, so it's harder for them to simply let her disappear for a few weeks!

I think we're meant to assume that more time has passed since Newcastle than in "our time" if you see what I mean. It does seem quite odd though!

Emmerdale often give their characters "interesting" temporary exits - Trisha in the Bollywood film, Chas in the army, Laurel doing volunteer work in Africa...

Oh yeah and does this mean Viv won't be at the trial? I'd miss her colourful clothes and shouting in court

I hope she is... we'll need some light relief in what looks like could be quite a grim storyline! I must admit though even though Viv is one of Emmerdale's funniest characters, she can do the drama when it's needed e.g her reaction to Zoe stabbing Scott and her following confrontation, and of course the ending (thankgod they listened to public reaction, it was originally supposed to have lasted longer ) to her affair with Paddy!
