For someone who said that he wasn't going to leave the house without the £70k (or words to that effect) , will Spence kick himself if he walks on Friday, when he finds out that for a while he looked invincible?
He's good-looking, funny , can be kind and is honest, yet I still want Alex to stay, because most of the time Spencer is a big yawn. All that sleep has cost him a lot of money.

spencer stays up late, and therefore gets up late, alex goes to bed early gets up early, what Ch4 choose to show is their choice, in terms of the amount of sleep each has in a 24 hour period it is probabaly the same, most people watching e4, will have the same sleep patterns as alex, so percieve spencer as being lazy.

At the end of the day, women always go for the sense of humour over good looks . . . . . . . thank god! Seems that Alex has both though . . . PLUS a 'feminine' side that women also always fall for . . . . . . . . .

As I have both, I cannot confirm or deny that assertion....

Your not making sense Chuff. I reckon 'most' people watch the C4 10PM show, which summarises the previous 24hours in the house, so anything interesting Spencer does whilst awake would equally be shown.

May well be true, Spencer was shown in a positive light on tonight's show, but C4 will want as many people as possible to ring up on the eviction lines, and when the bookies have a clear favourite they are bound to lean to the favourite to go, to try and swing the vote, remember last year and Davina telling us how close it was between Brian and Helen, as it turned out it wasn't even a contest, but was done to get the ardent fans or foolish public to vote some more.

On Spencer - I don't actually think he cares either way - would need some effort on his part.

. . . yes but its not like a General Election where everyone has one vote and there are people who are undecided and can be 'convinced' at the last minute by Davina on the Friday show to change their mind! I strongly suspect that fans make their minds up pretty early on in the Show who their favourite is and then stick by him / her throught the remaining weeks of the show, remaining loyal, blinkered and unphased by the C4 'editorial bias' that everyone seems to whine on about on this forum. Its very difficult to sway or change someones mind, especially so about something as trivial as BigBrother where the reason for favuring a HM is entirely subjective and whimsical.

Not true, not true....I was baying for Alex's blood in the first 2 weeks, he was so uptight and madly anal about cleaning. He still is (anal about cleaning) but I am now an Alex fan. He brings something in that the others don't. Can't put my finger on it yet though..........

All that sleep? About 8-10 hours per 24 hours seems to be about average for the housemates...I'm pretty sure no one in the house is far from this average. I keep jumping to Spencer's defence on these forums when people claim he sleeps all the time as like him I'm a night owl and I've put up with people calling me lazy and sleeping all day all my life...In can equally acuse them of wasting their nights...if you choose to only watch half the show, don't judge people on it. Alex is asleep most of the time I watch...he's been in bed the last hour+ I've been watching where as Spencer is currently entertaining people with tricks and things...

...more to the point, wouldn't anyone kick themselves for not having £70,000 when they could have? What I don't understand is how come Alex has sudenly gone from being seen as the sad irritating social inept fool to being star dude in a week? Have people such short memories? Are people so succeptible to changes in the way housemates are portrayed? OK, Alex did well for the week he was in the poor side, I was beginning to think he was actually growing as a person from his experiences in the house - then he chooses to live in the rich side and returns to exactly how he was...but people _like_ him now? Why? I'm so confused by the fickle public...

Nice idea, but completely contradicted by all the web/phone polls which clearly show major shifts in public support...for instance, Alex going from almost the least popular to most popular in the space of about 7 days. Oddly, at the same time most people watching thought BB were grooming Spencer to win...reverse psychology going on maybe?

I said the same earlier, but why should the facts get in the way of a good anti-spencer moan. They don't see it cos they don't want to.

The show can never include everything that happens in 24 hours and this year it seems to show a preponderance of people in skimpy clothes round the pool which means daytime, and much of the stuff late at night with Spencer would be difficult to edit suitable to play on the main show I would think....also, much of the best bits are a single short line, or just a look, which to make sense would need a huge section to set the context.

Can anyone remember Dean's comment about a sausage in BB2? To make sense of that you had to have seen all the bits about why Helen was ranting about a sausage in the first place, but Dean's bit was just one short line, but it had me in stitches.

Much of Spencer's funniest moments are like that, and often the bits leading up to them would hardly be riviting TV.

I think the point I'm making is that you have to watch the show all the time to get a full picture, and some people don't edit down well.

I thought it was well known that a lot of women like men who show their feminine side and that gay men make wonderful friends because they understand women better.

I'm just glad to know I'm not alone

As someone who's main interest in BB is looking at the psychology of the whole thing, not just what happens in the house, I'm facinated by how come the tide of opinion on Spencer shifted so dramatically recently. There must be reasons for this, but I fail to see them yet. Anyone who really hates Spencer now who didn't before who can tell me why?

Also, anyone who didn't like Alex who likes him now?

I don't mean "I used to like him but I don't as he stinks"...I want reasoned arguments. Look inside your own feelings and think about what happened to change your mind? At what point did you notice you're feelings had changed? What was the catalyst?

I didn't like either of them at the beginning but now i like both and don't really want to see either of them go.
I think they both found it difficult at the beginning - Spencer looked scared to death when he first entered the house and Alex seemed to find it all a bit too much.
Now that Alex has relaxed a little we can see his sense of humour coming through and he does say some great things. At the same time, although Spencer is quieter generally, I love his one liners too and he can be quite sensitive too as long as there are not too many HMs watching.

Maybe the people who used to like Alex at the beginning were more interested in his looks but then went off him because he was so picky. The same with Spencer too once he showed his 'laddish' side (usually when PJ is around) he wouldn't be as appealing to some women.

Now THAT is a reasoned argument. I can relate to being torn over a choice between the two of them actually as Alex has shown signs of growing as a person while in the house - which may be just part of settling in. Spencer I agree was very withdrawn at the start - but in the face of Alison, Jonny and Kate's mad antics, who wouldn't stand back a bit?

I think any 'ordinary bloke' would relate to Spencer's laddish antics...they're not serious most of the time it seems obvious to me. At the same time, Alex has acted very well on a few occations to mediate between people etc now. Personally, I'd keep Spencer in as I keep hoping he'll find a why to crack BB's rules or organise mass rebellion...if only the other housemates were'nt such chickens he'd have been leading the revolt weeks ago!
