Think parents with more money than sense who for some reason adore their daughter and want to throw money at her....Kate suffers from the same affliction

Well, there are a few possiblities...
she earns it, or is given it.

or she has no flat, and is just lying again.

I just did a quick search and you get 18k p.a. if your Dental assistant in London, Oxford Street. Not that bad I guess for somebody of her age who still lives at home with her parents.

Well, she 'supplements' her diet a la the PJBJ, so maybe she supplements her earnings too! Maybe a few extras are on offer at the dental surgery, perhaps she offers to put their tools in her mouth, when the dental tools are in their mouths - if you get my drift??

Or maybe she shoplifts..... being a council estate kid!

Knowing Jade lying, or just talking cr*p, is a very high possibility.

That's not a lot considering which part of the country she lives in.

They were talking about wages they earn about 3 weeks ago. Kate worked at an IT helpdesk and was on a wage of £33k per year. Although she didn't get sickpay and holiday pay. But still, that's a BIG wage.

Btw, I'd imagine Jade earns something between £15k and £17k per year as a dental nurse. She probably gets a ton of peaks too due to her being in health. Better than being a page 3 girl I think Jade ?

If she doesn't get sick pay or holiday pay, she must be self employed, on a contract or a temp then?

She DOES get holiday pay: it's the law (4 weeks per year paid holiday under Working Time Regulations). If she lied about that she probably lied about her pay:...

She's probably a contractor. So 33k isn't very high at all for that sort of role.

Is that qualified or unqualified?? ( I gather Jade is unqualified}

In 1974 I got £11 per week unqualified, outside London! But it was enough for me to pay for my own flat - just. Not for expensive shoes etc. though. Not particularly relevant. But there you go

A lot of IT workers are self-employed and are hired on short term contracts. You usually form your own company and bill either the company you are working for directly or through an agency. when I was doing it I was getting £1000 a week. You are self-employed so no paid holidays, training etc.it all comes out of your potential earnings.

I'm sure I heard them all talking about their houses a bit earlier on the web feeds, and she said she lived at home with her mum, she was talking about how much she loved the kitchen and how they had knocked the outbuildings into one and the council came along an demolished it because they didn't get permission!

Oohh. And of course that's offset by the fact that she could go without earning for a long time? However, when we saw the snippet of film of her she seemed to be working on a helpdesk, taking inbound calls, not something I'd asssociate with £1000 per week wages as there are many employment agencies who can supply similar people for around £10-15 per hour.
I can't imagine her being able to complete the paperwork of someone who's self employed...

I don't know though, I'd like it if someone who knew her could let us know the truth, as we're all conjectoring.

Thanks had a look and the wages seem to vary between £14k and £19k depending on if you are in London or not. Hard to say if they are for unq or q, but I suspect q, or at least in training for quals.

Salary is on a par with qualified nurses, if not slightly higher.
but still not enough to support a flat and expensive shoes and clothes!!!

Oh I found a job description at http://www.badn.org.uk/careers.htm which I thought matched Jades skills well (er, not really)

i was watching the internet feeds once and jade said she worked in a place in covent garden, and one of the other housemates said they go past it often and it looked nice, so i would think she gets paid at the higher end of the pay scale.

I've noticed theres been a lot of bragging and oneupmanship
lately

eg

Adele > my dad owns 6 houses, I'll have to show you round one day

Tim> Yeh, I'll have to drive up sometime in my Lamborghini 5.3 litre turbo injection sports cabriole

Alex> I used to have one of those but I sold it for the mk2 version

etc etc
