We are all assuming the designer gear she has is genuine it wouldn't surprise me if it was of the back of a lorry and she is being ripped off.
”

And frankly, I wouldn't trust her saying something cost £170, probably *£1.70* from Asda (a fine store if you like that sort of thing)

Valkys assessment is spot on, that is exactly how the IT department is run where I work too.

The irony (and that's NOT a metal, Jade!) is that Kate supposedly complained about how much she is paid: and if she is self employed, she'd technically have to negotiate her OWN contract, and therefore would have HERSELF to blame for the rate of pay!

It's a question of supply and demand, it may have been a question of under cutting others to secure the contract. £33k is better than £0k.

Oh my god, I've only just noticed Geoff has called one of MY comments rubbish!!

Okay.

Geoff
In law, if you are self employed, YOU are responsible for your employment contract etc. So technically you negotiate your OWN COE. Of course this is a legal "fiction" because you're limited my market conditions etc.

I NEVER stated that she PAID HERSELF, I said she'd negotiate her rate of pay (as I say- a legal "fiction") HERSELF. And as such, she would actually be to blame for her pay being too low for her. (not that she could do much about it).

In effect though, she DOES pay herself. She recieves money for services rendered, and then out of that she would allocate money for pension, pay, PAYE, NI etc.

If you have gathered ANYTHING from my profusion of postings, it should be that I would never say anthing as crass as someone can pay themselves more than they earn!!!

I cannot work out where you got that from.

Chill Jack, he called my degree crap - which it probably is as far as making me employable in the North East goes, but doesn't mean I didn't work hard for it or that it has no merit, but still makes his comment a bit mean and uncalled for.

Still, I wouldn't waste too much typing energy on it - but I would advise you to mind your blood pressure

Just read on the updates that Jade told the HM's that she earns 2K a month after tax due to the high costs of treatment at her practice!!!!!! Flipping heck must be one helluva posh practice....(with Jade as a DN?!?!?!?!?!). They must all be deaf

P'raps they only wheel her out when they have poor people come in...

-you'd certainly be encouraged to look after your teeth if the consequence of poor oral hygiene was any part of THAT being stuck in ya gob.

just a thought.

That doesn't allleviate the point I made. Anyone - employee, self-employed or IR35 contractor can moan about have much they are paid.

Technically anyone can negotiate their "COE". No company can legally force you to sign a contract and work at a salary you don't want.

So using your argument, anyone is to blame for how much they are paid. As you yourself say, this is fiction.

Not everybody can buck the market and get paid more than they are worth - ultimately the market is the key factor for pay scales.

And Diva - sorry for any slight. But an implied 8K salary - I was earning twice that at 17, before I started my degree. Something doesn't seem right here - everyone I graduated with started on at least 18-20k. Some on 30K+

Thanks
Geoff

[Jade] It was minging [/Jade].

And the shower had all the tiles missing.

I can't believe anyone would live in such a dump.

Reading between the lines I would guess that Kate is a call-centre operative on short term contract (meaning her job can be terminated without notice, at any time) and that Jade is a call-gi..........no, cancel that cruel comment........and that Jade is liar - I mean, going to the dentist is torture at the best of times, why would you visit a dental practice where your eardrums too are subjected to mental and physical pain? Who in their right minds would employ Jade?

What my original comment (which was meant to be a humourous observation of the IRONY by the way) meant was that it is alot easier (stress easiER) for Kate to do something about her "poor" wages, than for salaried employees.

In the same way it's easier for the people who she is working for to get rid should they not want her anymore.

You'd think that earning 30K+ she'd beable to afford a better flat - what a dump!! She could at least buy some tiles!

My annual income is less than half that, but my house is much better kept AND I have a son to keep.

I think that it's unlikely that Kate earns that much. Earlier on today, she broke her £170 sunglasses and I heard her saying "...it took me ages to save up for those..". Not the talk of someone who earns shed loads!!

Presumably she saves up for things from the money she has left over after Tax, NI, and Make-up!

Well, she 'supplements' her diet a la the PJBJ, so maybe she supplements her earnings too! Maybe a few extras are on offer at the dental surgery, perhaps she offers to put their tools in her mouth, when the dental tools are in their mouths - if you get my drift??

Or maybe she shoplifts..... being a council estate kid!
”

Posh, please try not to make blanket statements like that last one. I've already moaned about people fielding the class divide, people from council estates are not all shoplifting thickies who live in filth. I accept that a higher percentage of the above tend to live on council estates, but a sweeping statement like that includes me and many others, and I don't appreciate it.
