Fabulous! It's getting to be like the good old days, when every decent British actor worth their salt had Doctor Who on their CV.

I hope they don't start getting ex-Eastenders, though (unless The Doctor and Rose land on a planet where everyone is bright orange).

I think Simon Callow set the bar for this... and he said he made his choice based on the quality of the writing.

Mr Gatiss, Mr. RTD... please take a bow!

Indeed - and Christpher Eccleston before him too.

And CE's involvment was singularly thanks to RTD - and the quality of his writing.

I am fed up with the knocks RTD's getting - it's all thanks to him that not only is the show back, but the quality of the leads and guest turns is as high as it is.

It should be okay, in the first sentence you said every decent British actor and then in the second you fear the ex-Eastenders.

Bar a very select few, they're a different species

She played Margaret on One Foot in the Grave and she was also in Calender Girls.

Here's her Imdb profile http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0188950/

I think this is great news if it's true. She's superb

Thanks hamish

Yep - I know the actors but never their names

I agree she would be great in that role if the story is correct ....

Annette Crosby has already played Queen Victoria in the excellent drama series Edwards VII, about thirty years ago; she was perfect.
