I'm not too sure about this. Spencer (apart from when riled) hasn't made it a habit of badmouthing anyone. Maybe he just doesn't have an axe to grind and doesn't want to slag off the other housemates? Just a thought.

Sorry, oakley, not sure: are you responding to a previous post, or just musing?

Not a real Spencer fan, but what I thought made him intriguing wasn't that he is laconic, but that he was a guy who it's hard to say what direction he'll go.

He alternatively showed tender sides and willingness to join in the bullying of Alex. Spencer could turn out to be a nice guy or a cynical tuned out sod.

He's a case where you wish there was a version of BB as "Seven Up" [the documentary that filmed a group of kids every 7 years to track their life-development].

id like to see a BB with all normal kids in... and not any with the silver spoon in thier mouths.[b]

I'd like to see a BB that didn't allow HMs who had previously been on real-tv shows [PJ, Tim] or who had agents at any previous point [Allison, Johnny] or even those who've been professional models [Alex. Kate].

LOL - it wasn't obvious was it? Doh!

I was wondering whether Spencer just didn't want to get into slagging off another housemate when he was talking about Jade. He has seemed (to me!) to be reasonably tactful, apart from when Alex didn't choose either him or PJ to go on to the rich side last week.

I just think it came across like he didn't want to be interviewed and was trying to shut down each question as it came.

Then again, maybe I'm just as naive!

I don't think you're being naive (in my NOT humble opinion). It's actually hard to tell whether he was being tactful or taciturn, though I suspect the latter. Though I could easily be convinced he simply didn't understand what Davina was going on about. I couldn't half the time.

Can we say "crap interviewer" everyone?

Yes, of course they're real. But they've also had some training in media techniques, which somewhat violates the principle behind "real-tv". If we want semi-professionals, then why not just watch the soaps?

isnt it interesting to see their masks slip? no one can act in a role for 24 hours constantly, let alone 64 days. people are never going to be themselves totally in there, whether they've had media training or not. people involved in the media form a large part of our society, they are genuine people and in my opinion are just as interesting to watch and give an example of a different type of person

Nevertheless, I can tell if someone "really" fancies someone (the main tell-tale is eye contact), and I've known all along that Spencer had no romantic feelings for Kate.

Do you think I fancy you?

He definitely could have sounded more intelligent - it was a far cry from 'Have you been taking stupid pills again Jade?'

And DEFINITELY crap interviewer - she seems quite clueless this year. Hope she gets a grip or it's going to get really annoying.

Yes it is.
I don't know about you but during the "interviews" I'm sitting there (or here, actually) thinking "ask him more about that", or " ask him about such and such". And she just goes onto a completely different subject...arrgh

I think dermot is much better at making his subjects relaxed, why can't he do the eviction show?:'(

The thing I like about Dermot's interviews is that he interacts more and is really enthusiastic, like he really wants to know.

Davina just sounds like she is asking what someone is telling her to ask, and not really getting into it. I seem to remember the first couple of years she was really into it and asking loads and loads of really good questions; I don't think it was just my imagination!

Don't know about previous shows (never saw them), but the rest: TOTALLY agree.

I think the other way about, I don't like the way Dermot interviewed Sunita or Sandy, and really could not imagine him doing a Friday night eviction. I like Davina's style of interviewing, and think she's a good interviewer, but it's possible that she's not too fond of the people this year. She was fine with Lynne and Alison, and even managed to get something out of Lee, but Spencer acted like he couldn't be arsed so she probably thought the same.

As for her looking a little 'down', did it occur to anyone that maybe she's just having a bad day, or not feeling great?

I can see where you're coming from, but she must be being paid a fortune to present BB - if she's having a bad day it shouldn't affect her performance if she's any kind of professional.

I remember Davina saying when the series started, she was going to give 'the performance of her life'!!!........

What happened to that idea then?

A true professional would not let the fact that they were having a bad day, or even not being fond of the people, affect the way they do their job. As for Spencer not being arsed etc; that's how you define a "good" interviewer surely? Someone who can get info out of someone who doesn't want to give it?
I bet Parky could do better...
