stupid fat ugly homosexual
stupid fat ugly homosexual
We have to be very carefull how we use 1 of the above words. just seen that some guy has been slated and called homophobic due to a post made in here. now i dont post much but i read in here a lot, ive seen all kind of insults flying around. some comments have been potentially very cruel and hurtfull i have thought, eg. Jade has been verbally assaulted in all directions on this board. but when alex was observed by someone to be gay, it gets all serious. the world is going mad. |

I also agree. There's no difference between making hurtful comments about someone being stupid and someone being homosexual. The same applies even if the person doesn't have that attribute i.e. isn't a homo or isn't stupid and the remark is just meant as an insult.
And before anyone tries the argument that being called stupid is a 'legitimate' insult because stupidity is generally considered a bad trait whereas homosexuality shouldn't be so classed blah blah blah just consider the situation where someone is bullied over their 'posh' accent/speaking well - the list is endless. If someone finds homosexuality a perversion/aberration/mental illness or whatever just make an argument against it or refuse to speak to them. Don't merely whine about political correctness and resort to knee-jerk reactions. Finally, anyone on their high horse should carefully scrutinise their own behaviour and see if they themselves have made any bigoted remarks of any kind on this site before laying down the law. Casting the first stone and all that. |

Dirk is a closet homosexual
well Dirk, as closet homosexual yourself, I think you raise an interesting point.
Oh, sorry, did you find this particular suggestion offensive? And why? And what would be the consequences if I kept repeating this statement about you in the real world and not just this virtual one, particularly to people who didn't actually know you, just made assumptions about you based on these statements. Until the man comes out and says he's gay, I think we do not call him gay. I think that is fair. But what usually grates is the nod nod wink wink 'you know what I mean' approach to calling someone gay when speculating. I personally do not understand what all this wink wink stuff is about frankly - but the fact it exists with the purpose of it being clearly derogatory in it's intention, I also think that is very unfair. Y'know... so what if he is gay? Nod nod wink wink. What are the ramifications of this for BB, and the world at large? Has he become a danger to society? Do straight men suddenly feel under threat of their private areas with a gay man at close quarters? Would you have to lock your sons up at home lest he be abused or converted? What is the big f*cking deal? Jade is fat, stupid and ugly, that is verifiable and undisputed. I really don't think those sorts of adjectives are accompanied by the same implications that comes with calling a guy gay as a speculative statement. |

Someone calls me fat, they're actually telling the truth. I can get uppity about it, or I can lose some weight, or I can remain Stout and Proud. Fat people are often very sexy (Dawn French, Aretha Franklin, Luther Vandross).
Someone calls me ugly, ditto. Usually they're jealous that I'm married and they're not. Ugly people are often very sexy (Fernando Hierro, Gerard Depardieu, Barbra Streisand). Someone calls me stupid, ditto. Not how hard it is to call someone stupid without pronouncing the word in a way that doesn't make you sound stupid (Sh-tyEEW-pid). Stupid people are often very sexy (Brian Harvey, Helen Adams, Victoria Beckham). Someone calls me a homosexual, (a) it's not true, and (b) they're probably repressing their own tendencies. So I'm flattered that they fancy me. Homosexual people are often very sexy... |

hmm. i am pulled in two directions over this.
1. The Truth should NEVER be denied by anyone. Therefore, if someone is stupid, etc, it IS acceptable to state the fact, with backup evidence/examples. 2. Re: Harassement. Due to current backward minds in society, we all know simply saying someone is 'gay' can do a lot of damage to their image/career etc. Continued accusations about this can therefore be claimed to be harassing. Yes, the two points above ARE contradictory. As it is, both i think are right, and its a matter of each case by case. 3. No personal opinion should be silenced. I realise this breaks the regulations of this forum, however, i happen have views which fit (usually) within the guidelines. The great thing, is that there are plenty of other forums out there, where the anti this-and-that people can get together and have a great old moan about certain types. Is'nt it hard being a human being ? |

So I'm flattered that they fancy me. Homosexual people are often very sexy... a) Fat - I ask them to get an eye test. Unless they're victoria beckham or calista flockheart - as I am fat compared to them. Non-fat people are often very sexy: emma peel, teri hatcher... b) Ugly - I suggest some form of brain scan, optic testing. non-ugly people are often very sexy: emma peel, teri hatcher... c) stupid - I'd say "Einstein, maybe you're right, but just becuase I question your theories no need to have a tantrum..." etc d) homosexual - it's wishful thinking if they're male. If they're female: it's their reason for my not liking them if they're not emma peel, teri hatcher... JAck knows that "emma peel" is a fictional character. I did name some real people but C4 edited it out! xx |

It is useful to cover occasionally.
The issues of all the housemates, being up a lot of social problems, some of which many people dont like to even see mentioned. Calrissian : striving for the truth. |

Well, take Father Jack as a for example. Simply going off his posts, I'd say he was a raving heterosexual, know what i mean, nudge nudge, wink wink, say n'more! Mothers lock up yer daughters... elbow elbow....
Apologies to Father Jack if he finds those comments offensive as they are used for illustration purposes only. The good Father on the other hand could be as gay as a row of pink tents, as Spencer's brother put it, as we don't know him, so that's OK then. Phew!
