Why is PJ so obsessed with gay-ness?
Witness his continual attacks on Alex, fascination with Tim's possible "longing looks" at Alex; and insistence on talking about how his mates are "real men."

It's common that men who are deeply worried about their own homoerotic feelings compensate for it by searching, aggressively and relentlessly, for gayness in other men; insisting on their own "rough" masculinity; and constantly hyping their sexual prowess with women.

Think about the army father in "American Beauty," the one who beats his son and murders to hide his own gayness. It's PJ.

LMAO

Are you struggling to come to terms with your own sexuality?

Is that why it's such an issue to you and you are looking for gayness in PJ?

when i first saw PJ I didn't like the look of him because I attributed certain stereotypes to him, some of which have been borne out

I assumed

i) he'd be footy mad
ii) he'd boast about his masculinity and be anti-gay
iii) he'd be all for the working man and hate anyone who doesn't speak in broken english and/or have dirty hands
iv) he'd think he was 'tough' 'hard' a mans man, someone who drinks beer (the mans drink).

And they say you can't judge a book...........

Many men openly diss gayness etc because they are so afraid of appearing to condone it. The usual reason would be that the culture they were brought up in was very anti-gay, and where any men who were even vaguely effeminate/feminine (whether gay or not) would have be ridiculed and worse.
It's not necessarily because they think they might be gay.

It applies to anything really: I'm mega anti-fascist, but it's not becuase I'm afraid I might be one!

It's generally wise NOT to use fictional characters to back up psychological arguments. Unless they're from Catch-22. ; )

There has to be something, even a lot, in what you say desktop. He is not above calling his brother and his friends beautiful, attractive etc men. He was pretty keen to question Jonny about his uniform in small detail. This is also odd language. I think he has an interest in the male that he has to apply a smoke screen to. But it ain't working. I am sure that a good psychologist would have a field day reviewing all his comments and his body language during these episodes. I'm not sure he's gay, but there is enough worry in his subconcious mind about the possibility that he needs to adopt this attacking attitude. Interesting!

I've thought about this too and PJ comes across very much as that kinda guy over compensating. But I think it may be (and this is something PJ has said himself) that his look is a very popular look amongst gay men. He's said that other gay men often assume he's gay cos of his look, and I must admit when i first saw him I thought oh he's the token gay one. So maybe its just his way of asserting his hetrosexuality.

Maybe he's just considering all the other possible seuxal permeations rather than assuming hetrosexuality for a ll the guys?

Yes they do say that don't they? And I have no idea why.
I've found that one CAN make quite reliable assumptions about people on things you can see. You just need to allow for the "extremes of the graph" - ie there will be individual differences, but it's quite scary how one CAN make quite accurate predictions.

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle knew it (Sherlock Holmes does NOTHING BUT judge by appearances), and I can't argue with him. (Not on that subject anywway)

I'd LOVE to hear what you have to say about Freud - he's sooo funny!!

Would the comments you're refering to be those about everyone being born 'polymorphously peverse' (ie. no particular gender alignment as a child) and that our sexuality is conditioned by cultural forces? Thus we all have some degree of 'gayness' within us?? Is this what PJ is trying to suppress??

And before anyone jumps on me about the everyone having 'gayness' in them - yes, I'm aware that I've oversimplified it loads and if you've got a prob with the polymorphously peverse thing then take it up with Mr Freud, he said it first

Lol - I'm in Formula One mode this morning hence the typo I did of course mean padlock. And to make it more fun I suggest we quickly bundle Jade in the closet before we lock up

Of course if we bought a paddock we could put him out to grass...

I'm finding him slightly more bearable, without Spencer and on the rich side at least he is up....

673 (69.58 posts per day)

How can anyone physically do that many posts in a day. And they're not just one answer posts either - some good in depth stuff there.
