Hi all, been lurking for ages, thought I'd better jump in...
Now this is just wild speculation (as per usual), but it appeared to me that Jade playing up to and becoming the "baby" of the group paid off for her big time in the musical chairs task and subsequent choices.
First, in the "draw" with Johnny. There was a bit of tension during the brief stand-off, then Johnny, all credit to him, sacrifices himself while Jade just sits there looking smug. Now I would like to think that in that situation, had I been on the same seat as someone who has yet to be on the rich side, I would have done the honourable thing and at least given them the chance of leaving the poor side. Instead, Johnny either feels sorry for Jade or, more likely, doesn't want to start an immature argument with her. Result: Jade is favourably treated.
Secondly, in Alex's final choice. Given how quickly he brought PJ over, I was surprised that when, down to Kate and Jade, it took him so long to decide for Jade. This implies that (assuming he wasn't acting) he was weighing up the merits of leaving Kate on the poor side for a week and any potential reaction from Jade. I think he was hoping that Johnny would pick Jade, but again I suspect that he didn't want to provoke any reaction from Jade either.
Now I could be wrong but that's how it seemed to work out from where I was watching it. (Incidentally, I had to watch the live task on an itty-bitty portable upstairs because my wife wanted to watch Pride and Prejudice. Can you imagine that...somebody actually choosing to watch one of the best TV productions of the last ten years rather than a bunch of adults play musical chairs.)
