Homechoice line rental

Does anyone here have their line rental from HC instead of BT ? I am wondering if there are advantages for switching. The HC line rental option does not seem to be advertised much. Although it is fifty pence cheaper than BT, I am wondering if HC provides similar calling features to BT (eg. Call minder), and if there are discounts when several features are purchased together. If a HC line rental customer has a problem with their line, then can they ring 151 for free or do they have to ring the regular HC local rate number?

You don't pay line rental to HC. You still pay BT for this and any calling features you may want. HC just bill you for calls. I've been on their free evenings and weekends for a few months now and it's well worth it.

It's quite possible they have WLR though (Wholesale line rental). I'm with onetel and I get my line rental through them which is 50p cheaper and then pay for any line extras on top. I need never receive a bill from BT again

Well, that used to be the case, but HC now give you the option of switching your line rental too. Saves you 50p/month, but not sure how it affects maintenance of the line/calling features etc.

The maintenance will still be performed by BT but your line will effectively be the property of HomeChoice.

BT will refuse to discuss problems with you as all problem reporting, billing, feature enabling etc ne3eds to be done by HomeChoice.

If it's WLR the calls will still be routed initially across BT's network. If it's a full LLU service then the only BT bit may be the physical copper.

In any circumstance you must only talk to HomeChoice unless you wish to switch to BT again.

On a personal note I'm interested but would like to see a free phone fault reporting line with quicker call answering before I switch the line over.
