Now i'm really pi**ed off

right, where do i begin.

about three weeks ago i recieved a text message from somthing called gameclub, it took £3.50 but i didnt even sign up to the service. I sent the message "all stop" and contacted o2 about it.
They said to phone 0845 130 9911 which i did, it gave me details about the service, it also gave me the option of being removed from that number which i did, the number that came up was 82344. Great i thought but the only way i can get hold of this company is by answering machine, so i didnt bother with that even though i wanted my credit back

Today at 10:25 ish i get three messages, one in text message form in my inbox from 82205 and titled picture club and two as service messages which are aparently from 83858 and titled ringtone club and picture club. My credit went from £5.60 to £1.
I phoned o2 and they gave me details which were the same as last time, i went through the procedure with that number again and removed myself from the list.

This time i left my name and home number on the answering machien and am waiting for them to get back, i tell you, when they do they will wish they never phoned me the number is 08706 091795.

Has anyone else had messages from this company and is it possible to trace this number as i want to know where the call center (if you can call it that) is. Its probably a scam thing, the woman in the shop said there are scam texts going around.

And i am seriously considering sueing them, i may only be comming up to 17 but i am sure there are many others like me who will give evidence. Can trading standards also do somthing about this, i'm not putting any more credit on my phone until i know for sure i wont get any more messages.

thanks for any help/ advice etc

now i'm off to smash somthing to vent my anger

I think Ofcom should be on your list of calls, they will at least be able to point you in the correct direction. As for sueing them, taking the matter to the small claims court is a possibility but you have to find a face to sue first and also bear in mind the cost of such action maybe more hassle than its worth.

thanks for the advice, will see what ofcom can do. Thanks also for the advice on sueing them, probably just the heat of the moment, i'll go easy on them if they give me my credit back I figured it might cost a bit if i sue them, maybe get an article in the local rag or somthing to see if others come forward saying they have had the same.

still, i'll see what ofcom say first, if this company have a site it wont be up for much longer

ok, they phoned back and appologised (sp?), she said she was blocking my number and i could hear her typing. She read out the three numbers i recieved messages from and said a cheque would be in the post, for £42

so far i have had about £7.50 taken in total but she said i would get some more messages when i put more credit on my phone, whether that means the total will come to £42 isnt clear yet

just waiting for the cheque, she said it would take about 14 days, will let you know how things go

I read somewhere (think it was the register, but could be wrong) that Jamster is starting a service on their website where you can block your number from recieving their service. It should be live in the next week or so.

Perhaps other services will follow suit.

Right, just a quick update to let you all know how things went,

After i got the cheque i put it into my account, I have since then put £10 on my phone and expected to recieve a few of the messages the woman said had allready been loaded up or somthing like that.

I never recieved any texts so i assume they were removed, they only took about £7.50 and i recieved £42 so i am very pleased with that

Theres always hope with these things, unfortunatly my sister has started recieving those crappy joke texts, so she has a new sim as we cant get hold of the company in the way i did

Guess i was one of the lucky few

I went crazy too, and they said they would send a cheque for the £6 within 14 days. I waited and it actually came after 6 weeks. No more calls either when i threatened legal action.
