The adverts that you see on AOL or Yahoos websites will be links to exactly the same O2 promotions that get posted on the boards and are the same ones that then end up in the mailing lists.

Oh, and btw, How on earth do you know which sims you got are from which promotion?

Hi dj9928,

Not sure if you are referring to our site (*************) or the yahoo one here, but if you PM me your email address I can check if you're on our database or not and if there's been any reported problems with your email address.

Also, if you use Hotmail or similar email services then they often mistake our emails as spam emails and put them in the junk email folders, please check to make sure this isn't happening.

Another thing to point out is that we ourselves don't send out the sim cards, we just alert our members to offers being made available from all leading UK service providers. It's then up to the user to follow the link in the email and register for their free sim cards, exactly the same as you would do from an advert on MSN or similar.

There aren't any known issues on our service at the moment and we have over 5,500 happy users on our mailing list now and another 200+ users in our forum. If there was a problem like this I am sure we'd have heard about it by now in a big way

Anyway, if it's my site you are referring to then PM me your address and I'll look in to it.

Thanks
lalaland

dj9928, I've still not heard from you, but I can show this quote from one of the users in our forum
Quote:
“since joining the mailing list i have not missed one offer. This site is Awsome keep up the good work my friends. thankyou”

This was posted yesterday, so I know the lists working.

Do you want me to look in to your address for you?

I am getting the email alerts ok telling me that there are free sims going but I never receive any. I appreciate this may not be simalerts fault but its just funny since I signed up to sim alerts 2 months back I have not received 1 sim card and I have applied for every sim I have been notified off. Before I was a member of simalerts I received every simcard I applied for through the likes of yahoo, aol adverts.

There's no way that the ************* website is causing you this problem.

All we do is send out emails telling you that an offer is available. You then visit the site and apply for your simcards.

This is exactly the same way as finding offers on MSN or similar.

We have nothing to do with sending out simcards, they are sent from the service providers that offer them.

If you are applying for the offers and not receiving any then I would consider contacting the service provider in question and your local sorting office just to make sure that your local postie isn't one of these sellers on Ebay selling 200+ cards

Also bear in mind that these offers are first come first served normally, so you may be applying after several people have used the 'cookie deleting trick' or similar and ordered many packs to their homes or multiple addresses.

Either way, simcards not turning up from offers we have alerted you to are out of our control unfortunately.

I can remember an offer for an Orange sim card. It was maybe last week. I filled the forms in 6 times all to different addresses and put different mobile numbers as Orange said they would send a txt once the sims were dispatched. Still haven't received a text and the sims were supposed to arrive in 10 days time.

I don't know whats wrong with me. On average simalerts usually email once every week. I have been a member 8 wks and. Every time theres a free sim promotion I send them to at least 6 different houses. Not 1 sim card has arrived anywhere.

I don't think they would do and besides most of our users follow the links from emails which is how a lot of other users hear of these offers, so I don't think they'd block that.

We have an O2 employee who answers questions on O2 in his own mini forum on our site, I will check with him on this and let you know.

I don't know if it's an issue in your area, but the post at my home address got so bad at one point that I had to have anything important delivered to my office address on the other side of town.

I wrote to Royal Mail several times but each time got in reply "We have spoken to the person responsible for mail in your area and he assures us it's not going missing". Good investigation eh?

Anyway, we did a few tests ourselves where my mum sent birthday card looking post to my home address and my office address at the same time. Funnily enough the card never arrived at my home and arrived the next day at my office.

This was a while back and for the last 6-12 months there's been no problems with my home mail though, so I suspect they've either fired the person who delivered or sorted my mail or he / she moved on to other things.

I am not saying that all post people are dishonest, there are many decent staff working for Royal Mail, but there is the odd bad apple and it's worth considering if you feel post is going missing.

Could be they are discovering you are ordering one than one or trying to get around their ordering system and not fulfilling your orders at all.

Next time try just ordering one order and leave it at that. If that turns up you know the problem.

I got 2 out of 3 of the Orange Sim cards I ordered today. The Royal Mail works in Mysterious Ways (but mostly just very slowly). For what its worth I deleted the cookies form the session before ordering another card to a different address. I also disconnected from the net and reconnected so I was given a different IP address. Hope this advice is of some help. Simalerts has been great Keep up the good work everyone involved!

Thanks Everything Goes.

We have over 6,000 members now!!
(good job we have 100 gig a month transfer limit)

It's funny as I only started it as a helpful site for a few digitalspy members during a conversation on the forum and now it's rocketed up in popularity.

There are two of us working the maling list side and a few more working the forum side for our members and it's still a free site.

It's nice to know it's appreciated.

Yes, set up your google adsense account. put ads in your site, they may even allow you to put them on mailing lists too.

they pay good money. I only just started doing this myself, i had my free site. but then i thought why not advertise, it only pay $1 a day, but it covers my hosting.

Hmm... Tempting I suppose.

While I don't want to spoil my users experience when using the site with loads of adverts it certainly would help with costs and donations have been very slow recently.

I will look in to it.

I would consider using them on the main site, but not on the forum, I like our forum clutter free so only the content is displayed as is important.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

the google adsense program is fairly unobtrusive. and the ads are very well targeted, so they may be of interest to your users.

You get around 3 cents a click.
