I've known some mobiles can show you the telephone area code you're currently in.
I'm not too worried about this, but it could come in usefull sometime.
Does anybody know how to turn it on to display the area code? My phone doesn't have an option to do it, maybe it's in Info Services somewhere?

Back in the day I'm sure Cellnet had this feature. Do o2 still have it and how is it activated?

I was in Italy a few weeks back and Vodafone there actually told you the city/town you were in. I found it quiet a novelty (for a few minutes anyways )

Dunno about other phones but on a Nokia it's in "Phone Settings" and then you need to select "Cell Info Display". In the UK this only works on Vodafone as far as I know. Dunno about O2. On Orange or T-Mobile it definitely isn't available.

In Poland the cell info display also shows you the town or area of a city. Sometimes even scrolling information which I thought was quite impressive. Shame we don't have that here.

It's available on O2, albeit on page 200 instead of 50 (as Vodafone use) of Cell Broadcast.

Could I get this 'cool' feature using an S700i and O2 Online Talk-a-lot more?

With Vodafone's Sharp GX15 I got it.

Under phone settings- cell info on the nokia 6630 on o2, I only get the option of 'on or off'. How do I get number 200?

Should be on your messages option, then find Info Services and make 200 'active' and set it as a quick view as well, depending on your phone.

Im on o2 but have a sharp gx20, initially pay as you go on vodafone. In my messages menu theres the heading cell broadcasts. then if i click on settings it gives me a list of subjects, like news, weather etc. what happens if i activated some of them?

You need to turn on 'Cell information display'.

This only works with Vodafone and very rarely with O2.

And sometimes it's wrong, The display sometimes shows '0181' for London when it should be '0208'
