25-09-2005
im on o2, my mum, dad and 1 friend are on vodafone
when they try to call me its dead like a unobtainable sound but after trying other o2 numbers its fine and i can call from the landline

so called o2...who said not there problem go to vodafone....so called them....they said not there problem its o2 (however the guy was really helpful and did try to help)

so now im getting pissed off as neither of my parents can call me and no one has a clue how to fix it

im now on the phone again to O2 (preferably network services but just getting frustrated it was working fine on friday morning, then it didnt, at first i thought it was a network issue but 2 days later its still the same
tried taking out the sim cards giving them a wipe, also manually choose the network on my phone and 1 of the vodafones......no difference made
no settings have been changed on either phone

anyone got any ideas

Is it a new phone?

02 might be using a new number prefix, and it hasnt been added to some database that allows non-02 lines to connect.

You wont get any help from 02, they always blame someone else.

I think Vodafone are correct to accept responsibility. If you can call the O2 phone from a landline, but not from a Vodafone mobile, definitely sounds like a Vodafone issue.

Have you set up your O2 voicemail service?

If you don't do this, and someone phones you and your handset is off or out of range, the caller will get a number unobtainable signal.

voicemail is switched on.........my phone is never switched off anyway so even if this was the problem it doesnt explain why i can sit with one phone on voda and mine on 02 try ringing it and it comes up with the unobtainable tone

its getting to the point its pissing me off......voda have washed their hands of it....and o2 well there still saying its not their fault
im gonna go to a voda shop at lunchtime to see if i get any sense down there

07711 is one of the older 02 prefix's so the problem is unlikely to be with the o2 HLR or alike.

Can you ring the number from a landline. If so the problem does not lie with o2 unless you have some type of active divert on the line.

First off. Try dialing 1760 (on your o2 phone) to turn off the voicemail. Now tap into the phone *#002# This will cancel any other divert.

To turn your voicemail back on after doing the above dial 1750.

Get your parents to try calling you now.

It would be preferable if you could also get someone else on Voafone to try calling you and see if they get the same problem.

in all honesty i very much doubt it is to do with voicemail, landlines, orange, tmobile, etc phones can all call me without any problems, its just the problem lies with vodafone

i have 3 friends on vodafone who each have the same problem trying to call me......1 one them called up to report the fault last night.........vodafone dont seem to want to know

anyhoo dont really matter now, ordered 2 orange sim cards now for my parents,
my friends.........well they can always text me

ahhh... you beat me to what i was going to say, i.e can any other mobile networks call you, which clearly they can. best thing - call vodafone's faults department, they've got a specific number; 151 from a vodafone handset, not sure what it is from another handset... i've called them before - they're very good. they should at the very least test the line...

failing that, try the vodafone operator - 100 from vodafone handset, and threaten to leave/encourage others to leave the network for a network that will connect calls to your phone properly if they try fobbing you off. i tried that line on o2 when they played up re a network problem - they pulled their finger out after that
