Like it, cheeky But the texts thing happens in London and elsewhere - not at home. There's no chance of me being able to text from home so I'm not being blonde!

Anyway, I'm off now - Vodafone is calling so goodbye to the forum!

Is this a new policy, whenever I've phoned up O2 before they've always given me my PAC code over the phone (PAYG mind, not contract)

Having been with 02 on PAYG since '99, i've never had any problems with them at all.

I don't know any other network that gives you 300 free texts a month for only topping up a tenner either - that would cost you £30 on any other network. It's a generous offer from a good company.

Ah. PAYG is different to pay montly. You are quite right that on PAYG you can have your pac straight away. However on monthly the customer services people dont have access to the pacs so have to send away for them.

I sent three text messages to an Orange number late this afternoon using the 02 delivery reports and they never got any of the messages but they was sent as phone said but I have never got a text back to say they arrived. They got a text I send this morning ok. She says her Orange phone sometimes only gets two bars out of 5 for signal. So could that be the case. Its the second time in just over a week this has happend but text usally gets to her Orange mobile with in 5 or 10mins. I texted mums phone and she got text within 20 or 30seconds but shes same network as me 02.

im sorry, but i do think that o2 customer services are crap!!

i had an online sim only deal, however, i decided to upgrade, and move to the handset tariff. after being sent 2 faulty phones, both of which were returned, i called to say to forget the upgrade. i was told that when they received the phone, i wouldn't be put on the 12month contract. they received the phones, but no one decided to change my tariff back to the sim only one. i then relised my bills were wrong and when i called up they said it's coz i upgraded. i explained to them that i reurned the phone and shouldn't have been in a contract. they said they'll sort it and recredit my accoutn. however, a lil while on, same problem, called em again and they did the same.

now a third time, i called them, they said the same thing!! after 3 calls, to 3 different ppl, no one still switched me back to my sim only tariff!! so i got my pac and left, but was told of no extra charges etc.

i checked my bank statement on money, and o2 had taken £272 from my account! when i rang and asked, they said i was in a 12 month contract and so when i ported my number, i had to pay the remainder of the line rental! after explaining for a 4th time that i returned the handsets he recredited me with my money!

so now u tell me that o2 customer services aint crap!!

Try writing to the complaint centre - they do seem to listen, and were the only people who helped me when everything else failed. Unfortunately you can't call them - but if you write to them and explain everything, send them your bill, tell them what you expect them to do.
The address is 02 Complaint Centre, PO Box 116, Leeds, LS11 5DS. After months of speaking to the call centre and getting nothing done, they did credit my account with what I was owed. Can't promise anything but always worth a try!

Great, isn't it!

It won't be an immediate response (we are talking about O2 after all!) I think it took 2 or 3 weeks. The first letter I got from them didn't sort everything out either (even though it was all in the letter) so I did have to write to them again.

Good luck though and let us know what they say!

I know - but I will also be writing to them once I have moved to Vodafone next week. I think they could do with having a few choice issues pointed out to them. Not expecting anything back from them but I think they need to be made aware, otherwise they will just carry on as they are in ignorance.

O2 a joke? Maybe? Certainly a very expensive one at £18 billion sterling

Cash offer of 200p per share

22% profit just over the weekend! Almost 100% profit in the last 12 months

Where do I sign Mr Telefonica?

So if o2 can't get it right in the uk they just sell it off to Spain, and Telefonica is stupid enough to buy it, good old Spain. expect our phone bills will go up to pay for it

I looked to switch networks at the weekend and thanks to this and similar threads decided against O2 even though they had the cheapest deal for the handset I was after. Ended up going for Vodafone, and so far so good, I'm very happy. Would have gone with O2 but for all the negative talk about the service. I just felt more confident with Vodafone.

Sounds as if O2 really need to sort out their customer services before they lose too many more potential/existing customers.

Carnt get what right?

O2 are the fastest growing mobile phone operator in the country. They will soon overtake Vodafone to become the biggest operator in this country.

Joining with Telefonica will mean they are the 2nd biggest mobile company in the world.

Telefonica is tuned in. O2 is an excellent buy for many large companies espically when the tax breaks are factored in. Companies aren't stupid.

Free sim cards have nothing to do with their huge post pay customer base expansion.

People wouldn't stay with a company just because they offer a free sim card if the service was poor.

O2 tend to cater for the more data aware people and this is why you will find that opinions are slightly skewed on sites which cater for the more data aware such as this one. This gives heed to the argument that the reason more complaints are seen on websites like this than complaints regarding other networks is because there are a higher propotionate amount of o2 (or ex o2) customers on such sites.

We live in a service orientated world, if a company fails to provide an adequate service it will fail in real economic terms. O2 on the other hand have not only reduced costs but increased demand for their products at a never seen before rate. O2 have been giving sims away for years, however it is only in the last 2 quarters that o2 have managed to shed its legacy holdbacks, put into play its infrastructural investments and embrace the digital age.

For the technological minded people there is plenty more to come.

If it was as easy as that to expand customer numbers, why don't all the networks do it and then the effect would be negated. Oh they've all tried it (except Three, I think). Free SIMs is just a marketing gimmick - Orange for example seemed top prefer to give their marketing budget to TV stations.

Surely every network would love to see the growth in customer numbers that O2 have seen. More customers should mean more revenue and, providing the costing structure is correct, this reflects in geater profits - that's what shareholders want!

Maybe O2 employ better marketing experts, but as Garyo2 implies, marketing only attracts the customers; ongoing service is what retains them! - and the numbers speak for themselves.
Churn rate (new cutomers replacing lost customers) was something that was identified as an issue a year or 2 ago at O2, that is now being addressed too.

Hi!!

I got a call back from o2 "cheif exec office". he started off appologising about the problems etc. He then asked if i had my money in my account, i told him i hadn't. he then told me it should have been and he'll call me back in a bit. about 20minz or so later, he calls back and appologises again, and said that the money should be in my account either today or 2mor, and it now is! he also offered to re-credit a furthur £20 for the in-conviencence etc. i thought this was ok, considering i aint a customer anymore, so they really could have told me to go jump! but they didn't!

so it looks like there are ppl in o2 who actually do give a damn! lol

i must say now tho, yes o2 customer service ppl are crap and are a joke, but if u can get ur complaint up high enough, there are ppl who care! lol

mite just go back now! lol

Excellent well done - I would definitely advise anyone having problems to skip the call centre and go straight to the complaints department. If they all had the same customer-focused attitude, maybe they wouldn't have lost you at all.

I now have to write to them because they have billed me too much after my contract ended. When I called to give a month's notice, they said I should call back a week before my contract ran out - then when I did that they took that date as my notice period. It's neverending! Happily on Vodafone now though - have already had to call them a couple of times to set up MMS etc, and they are fantastic - so helpful.
