Are you sure this is not a line rental charge?

I now have to write to them because they have billed me too much after my contract ended. When I called to give a month's notice, they said I should call back a week before my contract ran out - then when I did that they took that date as my notice period. It's neverending! Happily on Vodafone now though - have already had to call them a couple of times to set up MMS etc, and they are fantastic - so helpful.
I thought you said you transferred your number to Vodafone. If so you dont give 30days notice. If you phoned up 30 days before and said you wanted to take your number and disconnect this is the reason you were quoted phoning up 5 or so days before the contract is due to end.

If you used the pac code you will be charged up until the point Vodafone took o2's number. Any monies after this are refunded on last statement.

When you called them to query why you had been billed for something the day before the contract had been signed, what did they claim it was for, other than it being 'correct'?

If they didn't explain, call them back and ask them to kindly explain the charge - I'm sure they will

(My guess its that the contract was agreed to and actually started before the 27th, hence why you have been charged)

Well that just shows even more confusion caused by the folks at O2 then - the lady I spoke to to get my PAC code said I should have given 30 days notice and because I hadn't I would be charged 30 days rental from then (seven days before it ran out). If they were actually clear and consistent in the information they gave out, maybe people wouldn't get so irate. All I ever want is a straight answer! Is that really so much to ask? "Ar*e from elbow" springs to mind!

Anyway, since writing the last post I bumped into someone who works for Vodafone Billing Dept in a pub who explained it to me properly so I'm all sorted. Thanks for explaining anyway.

They don't yet, but it looks more likely day by day.

Telefonica have offered to buy O2. O2 shareholders have not agreed to sell yet.
(Sold my O2 shares earlier this week for above the Telefonica offer price
they are currently trading about 3p below the offer price)
