Granted I haven't been watching Emmerdale as much now a days but where did the connection between Donna and Max come from ? I don't recall them having many scenes together, and although I do like her and Marlon being together, it would have been nice to see her and Max together..

That's what a few of us would like to know! They had a couple of conversations and went to the races and an auction - though we only saw them leaving and coming bacl, so the impression was never given there was anything brewing.

That's what's so out of place about her hysterics over his death but it explains the spoilers referring to her coming to terms 'with her loss'!

They should have shown more, to make it more realistic or at least continued with it while Max was still there. Like if he'd been badly injured or something and was at deaths door - before coming back and then actually making the viewer realise what was going on, rather than have it the mystery it is with Donna reacting like she'd lost the love of her life, rather than someone she'd barely had any scenes with!

max started to go out with donna as he felt upset that she and marlons relationship was so bad. but then they started to get close these last couple of weeks. yesterday she heard his voice on voicemail when he was leaving and then he was burnt to a sinder. will she now go through with the wedding

well if i'd been out a few times with someone and had a laugh, liked them a lot but wasnt necessarily best mates with them and they corked it, i'd cry because i'd be sad.

On the Teletext soap thing about Emmerdale, even Tina Baker today says SHE can't understand the fact Donna is grieving for Max on Oct 10 which gives her second thought about marrying Marlon.

It's some comfort to know that even the woman who watches Emmerdale for a living is baffled by this out of nowwhere storyline!

Well yeah it did seem a bit sudden but you could kind of tell they'd developed a good friendship, towards the end. You could tell he was VERY fond of her too so I don't get why everyone is so baffled.

Because to a lot of us what we saw on screen gave no indication of anything other than a brief matey relationship.

I don't normally believe anything Tina Baker says, but she's got it spot on this time! Like I said, if SHE - who makes her living talking about and watching soaps - can't understand where it came from, out of nowhere, I'm not surprised us mere viewers can't either!

Donna and Max had got close. If a close friend of mine died I would also be devastated.

Yeah, it just happened quite quickly and didn't get much air time together.. i'm guessing they just thought at the last minute when they decided to kill Max off that it'd be interesting to have Donna/Marlon involved so just threw this good friendship together. From the way they were with each other, I just presumed they were good friends. Even when he died I was just thinking oo I can't wait for Donna to find out too. So ... I did notice it. One of few it seems!

Anyway I would be awfully upset if someone who I went out drinking with died who I was pally with, even if we weren't close. I would cry my eyes out, being a very emotional person anyway!

Yes, specially as he was a lovely bloke, but her hysterics was a bit overdone - as was her reaction to his phone message. She acted like she'd lost the love of her life!

But each to their own opinion.
