If it's outside it's contract period, they should do.

It's supposed to be the contract/phone owner who calls to request it though.

Vodaphone did a phone I bought on ebay for nothing ......

if its locked to orange and youve put an orange sim in it doesn't need unlocking, you just need to register the sim. When I asked orange about unlocking they wanted to charge me £25

Maybe not.

As I already mentioned, Vodaphone will unlock it for free if it's a contract phone outside it's contract period. Give them a phone and find out ....

Plenty places will do it for £5-£10 if Orange decide to be dicks about it.

I'm surprised Vodafone unlocked a phone for free. Orange however will definitely charge you for it. I used to be on Orange and was charged £35 for the pleasure but that was in the days before you could get it done somewhere for a fiver.

The best place to go to is a phone specialist shop or a market. They can charge from a fiver to unlock your phone. Don't bother calling the network up! They charge stupid prices to unlock them.

Um .... did you not read the rest of the thread?

Vodaphone ONLY charge if it's still within it's contract period. Outside that, it's free.

I must admit, I was surprised to find that out myself but thats their policy and good on them for it. No idea about other providers but well worth a call on the off-chance.

Oh, and to the OP ....

There are guys who offer unlocking by post on ebay. You have to send your phone to him but judging by his feedback, I'd say you're safe. He covers your model.
