Better wait for MediaGuardian tomorrow, they'll have the correct overnights. Whoever won anyway, the ratings will still be very close and I think it's great that both shows are so popular and entertaining the nation.

What Live82005 said - they've been more-or-less neck-and-neck all the way.

I think the X-Factor has peaked!

Those shallow personalities will just not hold the viewers over the next six weeks as I believe the ratings are already beginning to show, Bonfire Night or not!

Kate Thornton is so bland in contrast to Bruce Forsyth, love him or hate him. And I love him!

The X-Factor judges are just self-obsessed.

If SCD continues to get the chance to start first I am sure it will build and build its audience.

Yay! Glad about that as I watch both but like SCD better.

No big surprises there, the shows are more or less as popular as the other, it's always going to be down to which one starts first.

I think the more the weeks go on the more popular SCD will become, at least I hope so!! I'll always be a totally dedicated fan to SCD anyways! I live for dancing!

Pah, ratings by number. We would be so ahead we'd be untouchable if they did it on IQ

i loved the x-factor audition stages, that's the real entertainment part of it for me..after that, it's nothing compared to SCD

After last weeks win I am hopeful that this will be the second week on the trot that Strictly beats The X Factor.

Well I watch The X Factor and record Strictly Come Dancing and watch it in between.

Then watch The X Factor results and tape Strictly Come Dancing results.

Fills up the rest of the crappy Saturday night tv to perfection!

I love both programmes so don't care about ratings wars. I actually missed the first couple of Strictly Come Dancing but have now got right into it.

Shame they have to pit both shows against each other but such is the nature of tv programmers these days. Means nothing to me I just use my video to get round their stupid competitiveness.

Craig is in the News of the World today, attacking the X Factor.

Main programmes:

SCD: 9.1m / 39.2%

X Factor: 8.5m / 36.3%

When the programmes clashed (1900-1945), Come Dancing won by 1.5m viewers

Results shows:

SCD: 8.0 m / 34%

X Factor: 8.2m 35.3%

When the programmes clashed (2115-2130), Come Dancing won by 0.5m viewers.

In summary: class will out.

Lots of people have been telling me that they used to watch the X-Factor and then flick between, but now that they've realised how often the X-Factor is repeated they just watch one of the repeats instead. Maybe that's why the sneaky BBC never repeat SCD!

Wow, 9.1 million is incredible!

Thats more than the FINAL got last year. I really am surprised and absolutely delighted. I thought the X-Factor may be too strong this year but its fantastic to see the best show coming out tops regardless.

I just hope this continues and that we haven't peaked already.

Can you imagine breaking that mighty 10 million mark BEFORE the final? Its almost unheard of these days.

Fingers crossed.

Yes I think you are right because Sunday's repeat on ITV1 of X Factor had 800,000 for the main show and 1.2 million for the results show. The ITV2 repeat on Sunday night had 560,000 on Sunday night and the results show had 515,000 so over the course of the weekend the main X Factor show had 9.86 million and the results show had 9.915 million. I am sure if BBC repeated SCD even once on BBC3 it would get good viewers as well if X Factor can.

That's really great beating the X Factor, it won't do those 3 judges an ounce of harm to have their egos knocked down to size.
To be honest, I'm a bit (well a lot really) too old for the X Factor, but I like to see peoples dreams come true. I've stopped watching it this year because with a very few exceptions they can't sing in tune! It's painful!

Well when you have a lead in of 11 million from and England World Cup Qualifying Game, I'm not at all surprised that it peaked at 9.1 million.

So Strictly beat The X Factor for the past two weeks, can it make it three in a row?
Trem Two

I think X Factor might take the lead back this week. I think SCD benefitted considerably from the 11million England match inheritance last week which may have slightly increased fibures to an unnatural extent. I reckon SCD will slip back to around 8.4/8.5 million.

Plus the ridiculous amount of X Factor publicity since Maria's expulsion last week will only add to its draw this week.

I hope i'm wrong, but i think for the last two weeks we've had circumstances slightly in our favour. This week its much more anyone's to take.

Any news yet?
