This really is the only issue holding me back from getting the 800. Is anyone able to answer it for me?

Hiya - the alarm will wake u up unless you are half dead when you sleep.

I put my favourite songs as my alarms so wake up happy and it gets louder and louder - if you dont hear it after a minute it will go off every nine minutes if I am correct!!
My advice is to downlaod a loud sone to the card and use that as an alarm

Thanks potatolegs, that's just the answer I was hoping for

Edited for a PS - all I have to do now is wait for o2 to get some in stock

Me again I think I've looked at too many phones and got confused, the one I like is the p800. I saw the w800 in a couple of shops and was apalled at how grubby the casing had got. Sorry

Edited for a PS of course the p800 is not a new model but the w800 is. So I'm off to start all over again

Tha alarms on the K750 & W800 start of quiet & get louder. Towards the end of 'playing' the alarm they would wake you up, unless you are dead.

The lady on the phone today suggested i would have to wait "up to xmas" for the handset. Bearing in mind i have been on back order since 20th september for my upgrade.

She said that the phone is coming in stock in small numbers every week but they are still fulfilling back orders from August so i may have a long wait yet.

I reckon if you try orange shops (if u want a new contract) you may have better luck!

My mate went to get a W800i at the weekend on Vodafone.

I said to him before he left that he should call first because they appear to be out of stock in most places, but he laughed it off and said he would get one.

He went to the Vodafone store and got one without any problems as was told when he told them what I'd said that Vodafone have plenty in stock.

The only difference I noticed was that his Vodafone one wasn't branded and he's a business customer, so not sure if they have different non-branded stock for business users and Vodafone live crap for the rest of you. If so then it may be there's plenty of business ones about.

Another thing I noticed is that he's not got the MP3 limitation on his handset that some Voda users have complained about.

That's shocking. I know they give priority at times to new customers for new handsets, but September to December wait is ridiculous. I would consider another network.

I downloaded a recording of an old fashioned bell type alarm clock and have that for my alarm sound.

It does start of quite quiet, but after a few seconds sounds more like a burgler alarm going off in the room and always wakes me up

I ordered mine around the 10th of Oct, checked next day on their website and it showed out of stock. I called them up and told them to cancel it as was going to vodafone, they told me they would reorder it and it then came the next day.

I was quite abrupt with them and was serious about leaving so i think if you call them up they'll get you one pretty fast.

Can I just say that I have the Voda Live predefined in my menu for WAP..but I can use MP3's as ringtones, no problem..even as contact ringtones! I don't have a vodaphone sticker on the phone or box either. Is this a branded phone then?

Me again. As you know I was getting confused over models, but this one does sound good. Thanks for all the alarm replies. Now I wonder does the phone get really grubby with use, (can't help it - I'm a woman )
The phone sounds good - but I'm not sure it looks good - is htere any other colour than orange?

Yep, you can get a white case for it for £20. Or if you like the phone features but no the look then take a look at the K750i which is the same phone with a different case and different media player. Looks much better in my opinion.

Thanks lalaland. I may just wait for the W900i to become available. It looks much nicer.

Having played with both, I would say wait for the W800i any day!

I just wanted to update that after 3 or so weeks with teh Sony W800i, I am loving it. Every person I show seems so impressed with the music/photo quality and I think it looks really nice.
Definitely the best phone I have owned so far... I just wish the video recording was of a higher quality - thats it

The latest firmware update increase the quality of the camera on the K750i, so it may be the same for the W800i, take a look on SEUS.
