Oasis: Whatever
Feeder: Just A Day
Blur: Popscene
The Darkness: Christmas Time (dont let the bells end)
Joy Division: Love Will Tear Us Apart

I think U2 - Hold Me Thrill Me was not any of thier albums, but it was prob on the Batman Forever OST so don't know if that counts!

Also a lot of novelty songs eg Football ones like Vindaloo

Garbage - The World is not Enough
Saint Etienne - I was born on Christmas day (later released on greatest hits "Too young to Die" and the video collection "Smash the System")

Also, a number of early singles by 2 Unlimited oddly never made it to an album, including "Magic Friend", "Are U Ready For This?" and I think "Workaholic", though they are on the video.

Good to seeBlur's Popscene mentioned one of their best songs didn't make MLIR because they were disheartened at it's chart position.

I'm still purplexed as to why Little Thoughts didn't make it on Bloc Party's Silent Alarm in the UK

Travis - Coming Around

Manic St Preachers - The Masses Against The Classes. I think this was a limited edition single that was withdrawn after one week.

Depeche Mode had four that I know of:

Get The Balance Right
Shake The Disease
It's Called A Heart
Only When I Lose Myself

All four are on "singles" albums, but not "proper" studio albums...

Can't Buy Me Love is on The Hard Days Night album!

However - The versions of Get Back and Let It Be released as singles were both different takes to the albums versions.

And you could have had 'We Can Work It Out', the other A-side of 'Day Tripper', metafis.

And along with 'Motown Junk' and 'Masses...' another none album single from the Manics was 'Suicide is Painless', and the recent 'God Save the Manics EP'

The Clash released many none album singles, including:
White Man (in Hammersmith Palais) (was on the USA release of the Clash)
Captial Radio 2
This is Radio Clash
Bankrobber (not sure if it was released in the UK mind)

Until they signed for Rough Trade, Belle and Sebastian never released singles from albums. 'Legal Man' preceded 'Fold Your Hands...' by 2 weeks like a normal promo single, and was advertised with the tagline 'Not taken from the forthcoming album'.

I was thinking that as well. I couldn't remember if Lazy Line Painter Jane or Dog On Wheels appeared on any B&S albums, so I didn't include them in my earlier list.

All of these 2 unlimited singles were on the 1992 album "Get Ready"

Saint Etienne also released 'Lover Plays The Bass' (in France), 'He's On The 'Phone', 'Saturday' (although this was a release with another band on the B-side (although the track was mixed by The Etienne))

The Smiths and Morrissey did loads

Sheila take a bow, Shoplifters, Shakespears Sister, Panic, November Spawned a Monster, Last of the Famous international Playboys, Boxers.

The one-off single started to die out in the mid nineties. I suppose it wasn't financially feasible anymore.
