I've had my k750 for a week now......took me sometime to figure out how to update........and when I've tried (good question BTW how did you get to update) It's always crashed at around 49% for me.

maybe this will help you, the newest firmware on the sony ericsson is R1N heres what it updates:

R1N035
- Released on SEUS for the K750 on 12/9/05.
- Released on SEUS for the W800 on 7/10/05.
- Video bitrate improvements over R1L (as good as R1A044)
- Improvements to photo quality (less noise in dark photos, improved viewfinder refresh rate).
- Bluetooth stability improvements.
- Bluetooth security fixes - no longer asks for file confirmations with paired devices.
- Contrast / Gamma modifications have been made to the display for a better overall picture.
- Improved reception (the signal strength indicator tends to be higher than in previous firmwares).
- Increased MP3 volume.
- Backlight doesn't come on again to show time after phone locks.
- Popup menu icon in the WAP browser has been modified.
- Fixed "More" menu when adding addresses to an email message.
- BUG: (Fixed in the current revision B?) With some phones Java applications can no longer turn on Bluetooth (i.e. the message "Failed to complete this enquiry" appears rather than the question "Allow application to create server bluetooth connection?")
- BUG: (Fixed in the current revision B?) Some phones experience MS Duo corruption with this firmware. Symptoms include erratic behaviour of the Media Player and problems with the file system.
- JBenchmark 3D LQ - approx 204
- JBenchmark 3D HQ - approx 123
- Software versions:
LCD 0
Camera 4.5
ITP CXC 125 932 R1E

Cheers. Just had a look on the SE website about this. It just states to basically plug the phone to the pc, tick the boxes and go.......

I have done this and all i have got is a blank screen (with a 'loading' type bar in the middle and my phone nor the DSL modem does not seem to be doing anything?
its been like this for 10 mins or so

Is that correct?

Thanks

Hey, i have a Sony Ericcson K750i, and i was wondering how you can find out what version of software that is on the phone?

I am with orange. If i do the software update will it remove the orange "look" to the phone. The orange icons, theme etc?

Thanks.

Hi Jagger2k

Been using my phone this morning and all seems good and well. Just one thing I noticed.

On the main icon menu screen, the old o2 icon ( was on top left of screen) has changed to the SE wap icon.
( I have also noticed that I do not the 'play now' icon on the main menu -- as it shows on the SE interactive k750i phone simulator-- maybe thats network specific)

Upon pressing this I keep getting an error message stating Address not valid, please retype and try again.

Do you have any idea how to change the default address? As I cannot see any options. At present it is a dead icon.

I do also have an Internet services icon, which I can access WAP, however this seems a long winded way of accessing.

Many thanks (again)

See here for information on finding your software version with the K750i.

As for removing the branding, this is possible although I am not sure if a firmware update will do it.

If it does then Orange may have set your CDA to make sure you can't download generic updates from the site. Some networks do this with branded Sony Ericsson phones to stop people removing the branding.

Also keep in mind that things can and sometimes do go wrong when updating your K750i and if it does you could have serious problems.

People have reported problems such as cameras stopping working, phones not turning on at all and other stuff. If this happens then you may need to take it to a store to get it flashed and there may be a charge involved.

It appears that DigitalSpy have blocked the link I provided here, so for those of you that still want to know how to do this here is the information the link went to

This might be useful for a few of you,

Finding out what version of the software you are running, you can do this in the service mode on the K750i as follows

>*<<*<*

> - Move joystick right
< - Move joystick left
* - *

On the service menu choose Service Info, then Software Info.

If you want the latest software version you can update via SEUS if your service provider hasn't blocked it on your handset.
