Thank Goodness the Divide stayed up...
Rennie
30-06-2002
Imagine the divide had come down last night:

Jonny, Kate, PJ and Jade would get blinding drunk leading to Jonny putting on women's clothes and doing his Hi-De-Hi Ted Bovis routine. They'd eventually fall into bed, after the customery pillow fight, and awake at the crack of 5pm the next day with the mother of all hang overs before......

Jonny, Kate, PJ and Jade would get blinding drunk leading to Jonny putting on women's clothes and doing his Hi-De-Hi Ted Bovis routine. You get the picture.

Adele, Alex and Tim would retreat to the grotto bedroom but Jade would visit 'Adelly' and Jade's backstabbing would continue unabated.

However, with the divide still up, and even better all the main players (I include the chickens in that) cramped on the poor side, there's no where to hide, people who've managed to avoid each other for three weeks have no choice but to interact and look at the result. Jade is being rumbled, the alpha male and female roles have to be sorted - that would happen without the divide.

I'll be glad to see the divide go next Saturday but for this week I think it's going to be essential and in many ways a blessing in disguise for those in the house and the viewers.

Absolutely agree.....all the contestants are together, which was what would have been good about the divide coming down (Tim doesn't really count as a contestant, does he?) BUT with the added bonus of all six of them being in a claustrophobic atmosphere where they'll all get on each other's nerves, bitching will be dangerous (people can walk in) and there will be lots of tension. Plus, 'Jade is being rumbled'. This is one of the best outcomes, I think.

The key thing is that they are all together now which is what the divide has been preventing.

I am not going to pretend it hasn't made good TV but it ALSO removes some of the more positive aspects. I still think that if it remains (and I don't belive it will) for the last weeks it will be a bad thing.

Just out of interest - what makes you say its a minority - all of the papers where ready to make a big thing out of it (until presumably BB told them it was temporary) on behalf of their readers - the sun where reporting 97% didn't want it.

Spoon, a bit of advice young man; when your source is The Sun, just say "sources report.." etc.

Just thought I'd share that.

Just watching BB on chnl 4 tonight and I couldn't help but notice how Kate, out of all the hm's was the only one not whinging or back biting.
There is about Kate a ...je ne sais qoi? that is so attractive.
Meanwhile, up on the moral-high-ground where Alex and Adele live, the weather is looking stormy indeed! could it be ....uh oh....it's..*hurricane Jade*
I'm am really concerned for Alex's well being,(tongue firmly in cheek) how on earth is he going to cope for the next week on the poor side amongst the hm's he deems ....DISGUSTING!?....Aaah, precious

I'm just j/k , if it's a secret room it's got to be secret?

anyway, the bb producers keep saying there are more suprises so they must be keeping things secret from us and the h/m's.

Tell you what I would like to see, the housemates getting shot one by one!

Would that not be interesting?

This is big brother……..‘Alex who would you like to be shot this week’?

This would be worth it just for the stress and soul searching that it would put alex through - the selection process the week before (Him and Johnny choosing) did his head in completely. Having someone shot....

His quote to camera ( which I thought was a no-no among his elite, btw ) that "I don't mind being on this side as long as certain people aren't here" showed him as the prissy arse his really is.

And if he's such a stickler for health and hygeine then why does he smoke indoors? Surely passive smoking is alot more of a health risk than a bit of 'friendly fire' on a bog seat.

The almost-revolt was rivetting viewing ... it reopened old rivalries involving Adele and Alex .. the pressure-cooker environment that we'll have this week will create lots of tension.

I was a bit worried about the divide originally but it's created a lot of interest.
