My friend had his phone half inched last night, and asked me to get infor for him.
Its insured as part of the contract, so would he get a new phone and get to keep his old number once they've barred the SIM card?

How long does it take to get a new phone out, and what details would he need? He uses it for work, and needs a fairly quick turnaround.

Cheers

Insurance closed at 2/3pm and wont be open now until Monday. (They dont open same times as customer service).

9-6am Mon-Fri.

You will have to get a lost prop/crime ref number from the police.

The phone must be the one o2 supplied you with.

If you call before 2pm and your claim is accepted you *should* get the phone next day.

You are supposed to make o2 aware the phone is nicked/lost within 24 hours, so make sure this is done so the insurance carnt claim you did not notify them.

In answer to the OP question, yes you should be able to retain your original phone number.

Whilst the original SIM will be blocked (assuming you've reported it as stolen), a replacement SIM will be provided and your original number transferred to that. You may need to call O2 when you get the replacement SIM to activate/register the new SIM.
