3 unlocking Phone after contract ended
I cancelled my contract with '3' after 12 months to which the 'Bombay' Head Office lady said if I wanted to unlock my phone, then I would have to phone back once the contract was over and they would unlock the phone for free, which I did, and they then told me I would have to pay £15 to have the phone unlocked. His reasoning was that as I was no longer a customer of '3', then why should they unlock it for free. Has anyone else had this problem with '3' or managed to have their phone unlocked for free?

15 quid? Sounds like you've got a bargain there. Most other networks charge twice that (except Virgin PAYG who want you to spend £30 and then they'll unlock it for free)
If you do a search, you'll find three normally charge £150 to unlock - if they do it at all |

The 15 quid charge is for what they call 'administration purposes' 90% of 3 phones can now be unlocked by most mobile phone shops. Got mine done down the local market took 3 minutes and cost a fiver!

One thing that puzzles me is why one network wont unlock another networks phone.
I mean if i were to phone my network and say that i've been given a new phone locked to another network, will you unlock it for me. surely it would be in their interest. |

Cheers. the only way to do it is to get 3 to unlock it, and you have to be the original owner of the phone - and then it can cost over £100 unless you are out of contract (then its £15 as said above) |
