Certainly, but I don't remember you answering my question.

”

Oh well said!

Elysium was bound to turn up on this thread sooner or later! We will now see a series of rather boring arguments supported only by the fact that it would appear that anyone who likes Jonny has to fall into one or more of the following categories: under 18 or (this is recent) over a certain age, female, hormonal, underachieving in intellect or on a low income.

But you have really hit the nail on the head. I have never yet seen or experienced a proper answer to any question posed to Elysium!

Someone else has already suggested this on another thread, and I wholeheartedly agree; it is not worth taking any notice of this member, nor bothering to answer the points raised in their posts. It would appear that his/her only wish is to wind other members up. Either that, or he/she does indeed have an awful lot of money riding on someone who is perceived to be strongly rivalled by Jonny.

Certainly, but I don't remember you answering my question.

Aside from a period of depression (and I defy anyone not to get depressed in an atmosphere like that) he has been entertaining, has put up with three weeks on the poor side with minimum complaint, and has been the shoulder to cry on for more than one person.

He's a nice, caring guy who obviously thinks the world of his family, and whilst I concede that he does play up to the cameras, can you honestly tell me that the others aren't doing the same but a lot more subtely.
”

I think this more than anything explains female reasoning at its worst; a dire need to project personality onto a partially painted canvas. You have no idea if Jonny is all that you suggest.. but your desperation to connect with at least one of the characters of the house has made you go down the most predictable of routes.

I noticed he/she steered clear of the Stan Boardman question also...

How do we know that that is not the case here.

Honest injun? Market rent, share of all bills, council tax, water rates, etc, own phone bill, separate food shopping, independent cooking, laundry, ironing, no borrowing of parental vehicle, TV, music (maybe not)?

Nothing personal sejones (are you related to bridget?) - I'm sure you're a love to live with (much nicer than "whoopee-cushion-king" Jonny).

'Living with' is a bit different to 'living off'. People in the NE live with their parents longer, thats how they can afford to go out and enjoy themselves more often. I suppose he could move to London and rent a damp 6ft by 6ft room above a kebab shop 10ft from the Jubilee Line and be, like, soooooo urban but I expect he'd rather be where he is.

I don't know if there's any point in answering you, as you don't seem to have an open mind for anybody elses opinion except your own, but I will attempt to do so.

"you have no idea if jonny is all you suggest"

Agreed, but on the other side of the coin, how can you say with all certainty that he isn't.

"but your desperation to connect with at least one of the characters of the house has made you go down the most predictable of routes"

I have no desperation to connect with any of the characters, I merely enjoy the big brother experience, and as is natural human nature, find myself more drawn to one character more than another. This does not make me desperate or predictable, just normal.

as for your comment about female reasoning, I am not even going to dignify that with a reply.

Fair comment, there were advantages (and disadvantages!) to living with parents. But I did my best to make sure that I was not a financial burden.

I really like Jonny. Have you seen him bitch about anyone? He's about the only one that hasn't. He's become depressed because of all the others! Jonny or Kate should win!

I cannot say if he has bitched about anyone or not as I do not understand his Scottish accent.

Your desperation to connect with at least one of the characters of the house has made you go down the most unpredictable of routes - I mean why Adele? You her cousin or somthin'??

well Alex has been up twice as well and he doesnt walk around like a man on death row.

I think this tells you more of what hes like then the first couple of weeks jester act.

Hes bitched a lot about Alex and blames all of his problems onto alexs.

This is all I have seen on this thread in support of Jonny. 39% of people on the forum voted for him, because he's a nice caring guy. I liked Jonny at first and could see his appeal, but find it hard to understand why he is so popular now. It could be that he is just the best of a bad bunch. I admire firemen and think they do a great job, but there must be more to it than that. Alex and Kate are the only two who have done something. Alex has entertained, and Kate has been a peacemaker and sacrificial lamb for the group. Jonny has moped around and done bugger all recently.

you could look at it another way : 61% of people do not like Jonny. Jonny Ball taught me everything I know.

Ah you have a point
It not that I dislike him, he's far better than a couple of the HMs (e.g. Jade & Tim), but he has twice got over 80% of the public vote, and still has approximately 40% of the votes on this forum from those who participate in them. I just don't see why. Hence this thread!

I like Jonny, but like many people, it's often hard to put your finger on why you may or may not find someone likeable.

(Before Elysium starts, no I am not under 18, I "am" just over 40, my own relationship is wonderful thank you, I don't fancy Jonny, nor find him in the least attractive, and I earn a good wage for doing quite any intelligent job )

All the housemates are playing a game, there can be no doubt about that! But I doubt that everyone can play a game 24/7 in the relative isolation of that house with all the other difficulties that go with it. Personally, I also like Kate, and to an extent Alex. I'd be very happy to see any of them win. All three of them have moments of pure comedy about them, they make me laugh.

Jonny was very loud at first - I'm not sure I wouldn't have found it difficult, but he was also very fair when Alex was so unreasonable. The talk he had with the other lads on the situation was about how he could reconcile it, not bitching about Alex. Yes, he has gone downhill, but I think this is very much to do with the fact that he seems to be the type of guy that is used to being universally loved. Not being so bothers him and he has reacted strongly to that - not well. But still, he has had his moments of fun, he takes being on the poor side well and seems to see things in a fair way. Whether that's how he plays the game, really is, is just an act, I'm not too fussed.

Adele does nothing to make me think or laugh, Jade I find quite a frightening character, PJ is pretty boring, with the odd funny moment, but few and far between and Tim - well don't get me started - he's just awful.

So - after rambling a bit, yes - in relation to all the other housemates, Jonny is one of the ones I like.

Are we all taking about the same Jonny here, is this the same Jonny.

1.That spent the first week behaving like an extra for a children’s pantomime.

2.That eats his stinking toenails.

3.Spent week two to week four, in a fit of depression, WHY ME, WHY ME.

4.Bitched to Spencer, Kate and PJ about Alex and his clean living, if they were outside he would hit him.

5.Needs to know why people could possible nominate him, but doesn't seem to feel that he should do likewise.

6.Said he hopes to get exposure for his band by being here, charge more for performances, because other bands won't have a TV star in them, and i thought he was only here for the fun and experience, not to enhance his bands coffers. So much, for not playing up to the cameras.

7.The same Jonny (along with Kate) who was on the verge of a nervous breakdown, until the psychologist interfered.

I take it we are still on about the same Jonny.

But have said all that, thanks to the intervention of the psychologist, with regard to Jonny and Jade, the house dynamics have been turned on their heads, to such an extent, that this years BB has effectively come to an end, What could have been a good fight to the last week, is now going to be a boring, predictable process, of picking of the HM's one by one, as the Jonny and Kate road show rolls on. The only thing that you can hope to look forward too, is if Alex is still there on the last week, apart from that the next three weeks are going to be boring.

As for Adele, i would still like to know what she has done, to make her so hated, that no other HM's including Jonny, have not done.

Or could it be as simple as she doesn't like your fav HM, so you don't like her, and any excuse to back up that reasoning will do, even if your fav HM is guilty of doing the same.

As the resident psychologist said on Jonny:

"JONNY has been doing a PR job on his image all week. His efforts have primarily been focused towards the voting public but also towards the housemates. He has tried to make himself into Mr Empathy, Mr Caring, Mr Advice, the list goes on. Will it do him any good, though?

From the House's point of view, however, this strategy is not working. This is because of his one fatal flaw: he always chooses the wrong friends. His main allies, first Alison and now Sophie and Kate, are unpopular, and his status gets reduced to theirs. All too easily, their enemies become his. "

Sadly, Jonny and his "we love you" fan base are largely unable to see any of his glaringly obvious bad-points.

I agree. Adele is scheming and playing the game. Unlike Jade, her motives are merely to get rid of the opposition, and don't seem to have the nastiness that underlies Jade's contributions. I have no reason to dislike Adele, and actually admire her for what she is doing. She has a game plan, but it appears that she has being perceived as two-faced, which she is , and that makes her unpopular.

The ways things are going we will be left with Alex, Adele, Kate and Jonny at the end. Adele has managed things inside the house well, and has only got one nomination so far, but it looks like Jonny has managed to become popular by sitting up late and being grumpy, and could win the £70,000 because he's a fireman who loves his parents.

I can't see Jonny's appeal, either. I'm sure he's a perfectly nice guy, if not my cup of tea, but I really don't see what makes him stand out. I think Alex & Kate have been much the best behaved of the housemates & both seem honest & pleasant, which is more than you can say about the others. I hated them both at first, but they have really gained stature!
