Just reading through corrie updates on their website and when mentioning jamies haircut they, quite pathetically, mention EE's "bad scripts", now i know its ment to be a joke, but its not really funny, they've done that sort of thing before and when one soap is bitching about the other its pretty petty. But then again they are probably jealous of the amount of awards they won the other week and of course, scared of comeptition, when EE Fans!!! (and i say that in bold because im sure some corrie fans will go NO ITS NOT!) say that its pretty much getting back up again after hitting rock bottom. And lets face it, the best critics for the show are its own fans.

Now youd never catch the EE web team doing things like that, true proffesionals.

Blimey, the Coronation Street Bad Haircut Fairy, who seems to have been hovering at Jamie's shoulder since he arrived in Weatherfield seems to have gone on a brief holiday, possibly to visit her cousin down south, the Eastenders Bad Script Fairy who, obviously, doesn't get out much.

That is pretty low of itv to do that. It just seems so childish. I have to say that corrie has been distinctly average recently, im far more interested in EE.

Anyway the worst storyline in soap at the moment has to be this martin platt football mascot one. What a lod of shite.

Oh give it a rest. This constant carping and slagging-off of other soaps is getting extremely tiresome.

Some people prefer Corrie. Some prefer EE. Some prefer Emmerdale, or Neighbours or Family Affairs or whatever. They're all very different and very good in their own way. What is there to argue over?

Does Tina Baker still do their write-ups for them?

They've done this type of thing before but what do you expect from ITV?

Currently the whole channel is on the slide regardless of the very few gems left in its crown.

Why are they "obviously" afraid of a little competition? I read the piece you refer to and all I saw was a little harmless teasing. Have you absolutely no sense of humour?

In any case, Coronation Street and Eastenders are in no way "in competition", except to a large number of posters on this forum. They're quite different soaps on at different times and never head-to-head. Why fabricate this feud? As I said, it's tiresome.

OK. This is my interpretation. They're taking a dig at Eastenders, no doubt about it but why are they taking a dig? Is it because they feel threaten by EE or did they just wanted to take a snipe at them for no apparent reason. It does seem a bit low of Corrie to say that comment, trying to be funny but at the same time angering EE fans.

Quote from ITV: "the Eastenders Bad Script Fairy who, obviously, doesn't get out much". Implying EE have bad scripts of course its going to annoy the most dedicated fan.

Or maybe it's just that someone has a mischievous sense of humour, which you lot obviously don't. These are soaps, for God's sake. What does it matter?

The fact that fans can create rivalry isnt the point of this thread. The poster is highlighting that ITV have slagged off EE on the Corrie website - which I have to agree is unnecessary.

It wouldn't bother me so much if it was A) funny B) clever and C) made sense within the article...it's such a random, out of place comment. You can just see some bitter webmaster, sitting in a cold, dark room with only some dust mites for company.

Hollyoaks did it much better with the "Now who'd be stupid enough to bury a dead body in the cellar [of a pub]?"...if indeed that was a dig (no pun intended) at EastEnders. Witty, clever, topical...take note Mr. Corrie Webmaster.

I didn't watch it, but I heard about that and it really made me laugh. Like you say, clever, witty and topical.

I think Tina Baker still does ITV's soap write-ups. Her sense of humour has always just missed the target in my opinion.
